The only way that would make grammatical sense is if you meant "We're off to Partisan" (Belgrade), for a European match. Not very likely.

Ask him where partisan is. Saying that i've never quite understood the line, as it makes it sound like we're not always partisan. Surely we should sing 'we're always partisan'

some people sing "we will turn it on" instead of "we will journey on" actually I think there's all sorts of words sung to keep right on. It's still sounds fantastic though when sung at full pelt, no other sound like it at any football stadium

We're of-ten partisan
We will journey on

This has been discussed before, and that is the absolute correct couplet. Why often is pronounced with a hard 't' I do not know (and that is where the confusion creeps in) as I have never heard a Brummie say it any other way than with a silent 't'.

There is also no place called partisan. Partisan Belgrade is like for example Manchester United, ie a team from Manchester who is United, or a team from Belgrade who are partisan. There aren't many (any?) languages in Europe which place the adjective in front of the noun like we do in English.

Before some numpty cites Birmingham City as the inverse to this example, think before you type and make yourself look a numpty!

i will post the full proper verse when i can find it - including the lesser known second verse. Off to partisan!!! that must be Belgrade. It is definitively 'Often partisan' which means that more often than not we see things through blue-coloured glasses.

The original Harry Lauder lyrics

Ev'ry road thro' life is a long, long road,
Fill'd with joys and sorrows too,
As you journey on how your heart will yearn
For the things most dear to you.
With wealth and love 'tis so,
But onward we must go.

Chorus:
Keep right on to the end of the road,
Keep right on to the end,
Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong,
Keep right on round the bend.
Tho' you're tired and weary still journey on,
'Til you come to your happy abode,
Where all the love you've been dreaming of
Will be there at the end of the road.

With a big stout heart to a long steep hill,
We may get there with a smile,
With a good kind thought and an end in view,
We may cut short many a mile.
So let courage ev'ry day
Be your guiding star alway.

Chorus: Keep right on etc.

This is generally the fans' version

As you go through life
It's a long,long road,there'll be joys and sorrows too
As we journey on we will sing this song
For the Boys in Royal Blue

We're often partisan....La La La
We will journey on....La La La
Keep right on to the end of the road
Keep right on to the end

Though the way be long, let your hearts beat strong
Keep right on to the end
Though you're tired and weary
Stil journey on
Till' you've come to your happy abode
With our love, well be dreaming of
We'll be there ....(Where?)

At the end of the road............BIRMINGHAM.........BIRMINGHAM

I get choked-up just reading the lyrics. There's nothing like it when the whole of St Andrew's is belting it out. Come on you blue boys!!

no mate, if you take time to explore the area around the ground, the line must be that they've come from pakistan in their caravans !

We`re often partisan is definatly the lyric.Just out of interest i went and found the dictionary meaning of the word....

A fervent, sometimes militant supporter or proponent of a party, cause, faction, person, or idea. ;)

So I suppose that it woulde be more truthful to sing...

We're sometimes partisan, but it isn't like the old days, we will journey on, la la la....

what about a new version, something like

as we drive through the traffic
its a long toll road
there'll be cones and chaos too

as we cuss and curse
we will sing this song
for the boys in Royal Blue

We're off to Pizza Hut la la la
a £9.99 take-a-way-ayayayaya

Keep right out of the one Bus Lane
Keep right out of the Lane
As you're gonna be late
Let your horn beat loud
Keep right out of the lane

Though you're mithered (not cheery)
still journey On
till you park up and pay 5 quid - d- d-
and when you're there
you'll be f***king mad
coz we're not playing till next week.

thankyou

ESpecially before the big games (particularly Home to the V!le). I'm sure that's what makes their keepers even more dodgy!!
