If Mr Soueness gets the chop from the Toon, you know who is going to be a candidate don't you, yep you've got it.......Stevie Bruce. And how could he turn that down, manageing the likes of Owen, Shearer, Parker Luque, and have endless cash to spend. Would you blame him if he did go? :ph43r: |

Bruce does not have a great reputation outside of Brum. Why would he be rated higher than O'Leary, Curbishley, Moyse or Alladyce ? If they are desperate to have a geordie it will be shearer. |

Newcastle have invested a lot of cash in the transfer market. That shows ambition. I think they would be equally ambitious in their appointment of a new manager. I dont think that Bruce's record in management would qualify him for the job. |

It won't be Bruce, it will be Shearer. The job is being lined up for him and he was instrumental in persuading Michael Owen to join the club. It's the job he's always wanted. |

Shearer will be Newcastle's next manager. He's being groomed for it already. He has played a big part in getting Owen, Parker and Luque to St Jame's Park. He was retiring this summer but stayed on for 1 reason, to begin a coaching roll within the club and ease his way into the top job after scoring a club record number of goals. |

If it is Bruce then good luck to him, he will go with alot of thanks for what he has achieved these past few years. Hope he stays but could you turn down the chance to manage the team and club you love, i couldnt. |

newcastle have invested alot of cash this season they didnt last ! I cant see them sacking souness when they have just brought a 17m striker and a 10m striker ! they will give him till christmas if then they have done well he may get the chop. the person i think who will replace him is oneil. Brucey has the backing of this board who are not shy of investing money ! its just this window there isnt the the right players available to improve us ! so why waste money getting bench warmers in ! they have saved the money for the jan window and if there isnt the players then they will just hold the money for the end of the season ! Brucey wont leave he is a honourable chap and be here for many years to come (i hope so he is the best bloody manager we have had for decades !) |

the truth is, their 1st choice target last time was steve...........................mclaren, not brucie they'd go for the same people again next time, with mclaren, allardyce and possibly brucie as 3rd or 4th choice....sb's reputation outside birmingham is actually quite good still, as evidenced by comments from curbishley amongst many others. as for shearer, he said last time he wasn't ready as he had no experienec, and nothing has changed there so he wont get it. personally, i think souey wil be given all season unless they stay in the vicinity of the bottom 4 or 5, which wont happen now owen has signed...... ;) |

The 'Bruce to Newcastle' subject is one of the several disruptions that I believe damaged our progress last season (plus savage/injuries etc.). Let's not kick all that off again! |

He should go, if asked. He has seen a Fry-Francis type cautionary purse tightening by the board, and he is not stupid enough not to realise what follows. If Newcastle were silly enough to meet his "Sven-Style" release payment, I for one, cannot see this board standing in his way any longer. After all enough is enough, and the plateau of achievement that Steve has got Blues' onto, may be the end of his ability (as far as he can take us), given that our board are not from the school of Abramovich or Shepherd and able to fund or "buy" success. I think this board has always operated on a Plan B scenario. I feel they have one with Steve, as with Fry and Francis. The overture has started, its upto the conductor to determine the rest of the concert- it is in Steve's hands. |
