IMHO... I am pleased with today's performance. Charlton came with 1 simple game plan and stuck to it impressively. They got the goal, shut up shop and attacked on the break in case they needed a 2nd. Text book. All credit to them for pulling it off. We've loved it when it's worked for us. In the 2nd half we were the best team by far. We had most of the posession, were looking to make things happen, attacked throughout and were not called upon at the back too aften, if at all. Taylor had nothing to do in the 2nd half all thanks to the 10 men in front of him. I didn't see their goal so can't comment. Pennant looked brilliant and provided loads of oportunities to creat scoring chances. He was a thorn in their side all afternoon. We did miss Heskey with Pandiani proving ineffective yet again. What was that overhead kick all about? Forssell is still not 100% match fit and you could see that. All in all, very encouraging. With fully fit Heskey and Forssell up front we'll terrify defences in the months to come. Think about things this was... Boro beat us 0-3. Charlton beat Boro 4-1 Charlton beat us 0-1 Boro beat Arsenal 2-0 today. Conclusion? 3 good teams taking points off eachother. When we meet again later in the season and we beat both Charlton and Boro we'll all be equal. We need to be patient. If you look properly you will see things coming together. Both Boro and Charlton are carrying on where they left off at the end of last season. Good luck to them. We were just unlucky today after putting in a good performance. |

The guy sitting next to me was saying " typical Blues, nothing changes, she ite again." When I asked him if he would be happy with the performance if we had scored 2 goals but played exactly the same he replied... "Oh I'm happy with the performance. We're playing really well." Go figure that one out. |

You're not talking about the same incident as me. Late on in the 2nd half, the ball came across and Pandiani shaped for the overhead. He jumped up and kicked at a ball that never arrived because the defender, standing 3 yards away, cleared it first. |

but realistically speaking you should have at least gained 3 points from these opening three home games. it must be a concern that teams like charlton and man city who i would say are iin the same tier as you beat you on your own ground. what happens when the tricky games come up like united, arsenal and liverpool? |

this is where differing opinions come in,we were shocking in the first half ,improved in the second but no big threat on goal ,we had lots of chances ,but balls in the air again ,how many did we win,who tells them to keep doing it ,its so predictable,we are much the same as last season ,pandi and forsell dont think its the answer. |

We'll probably beat em' jester, like we did last season in the case of Arsenal and Liverpool. We are not cannon fodder when it comes to big teams. |
