0 NIL ZERO NADA NOTHING With the players we got and the teams with have in our group you would have to be a complete fool not to qualify. For 4million a year the way sven has the team playing is a complete disgrace. He's going waste the best chance and the best pool of players england has had in years to win a trophy SACK THE SWEDE I'D RATHER HAVE A TURNIP THAN A SWEDE |

Shall we reserve judgement till sfter the Owrld Cup? If we bomb out yet again then maybe we should look for a new, English, manager. We've qualified now. This is not the time to replace the manager. |

Agree with KBek. (this is getting boring tonight, all this agreeing :D ) The dressing room supports Sven. They have a good seige mentality, which they'll need when the Sun can't interview Wayne or Becks, or the Mirror can't get close to Frank and Stevie. We only have a few options for England Manager anyway. One, won't do it without a shirt deal, another will only do it with an apology about wiccans from the FA. Turnip & Ga-Ga Robson are the only two who would heed the call of the country without financial discussion. Do we need any of them? The McClarens, Allardyces & Curbishleys would not go near the England dressing room, this close to the finals.....too close to change or re-educate. Which means, that he needs input and advice which he can accept or reject.....because he should not have to be alone and under seige from the media and fans.... we are there now, so everyone should help. The FA could do worse than have informal "Brains-Trusts" or closed discussions between the management and the pretenders to the throne. About players, tactics and managing millionaires :D . |

While I agree the man is totally incompetent, I think we have little choice now. I guess we have just got to get behind him...as much as it pains me to say!!! :( |

Agree with mandy on this one. As i stated in the "sven thinks we can win the world cup" thread, we have the best set of players that england has ever had (in most of our liftimes anyway) but Sven just doesnt seem to get them playing as a team. He doesnt motivate them enough and they seem clueless on the pitch. These players are used to direction and motivation from their club managers and the cant seem to perform without it. He has got us to the world cup and lets hope he can turn it around - if not i fear our best chance will have gone. :( |

I've been watching England for a boring 52 years now. Sven is as good as anything we have had before, and I suspect anything we will get after. We appoint a manager, we get our hopes up, we play the same style of football, we get very similar results, the media get all bent out of shape and get on the back of the manager, the fans follow suit, the man get sacked and we start all over again. No-one seems able to tackle the real problem. We had a minor respite in 1966 when we luckily won something, but apart from that the same dreary story unfolds over and over again. If you were an electrician, and you kept having to replace a light bulb because it kept blowing, you yourself would be sacked if you had never stopped and asked what the real problem was. Ah well......................................maybe I'm just gettting too old. |

which do u lot prefer? attacking exciting play when we lose 3-1 under keagan, and nearly failed to qualify for last world cup, or qualifying with one game still to go and winning 1-0 ? Sven has best record of all modern england managers, lost only one qualifying game, lost only 2 other competitive matches, Brazil, 2-1 and Portugal on penalties... both of those two games could have been won, with a little luck. he has done what he was briefed to do, get us to euro 04 and into world cup 06, think of those who went before... Hoddle, Taylor Keagan Robson lets stick with him thru' world cup, and we may be asking for him to be knighted in 9 mths time. so hold ur fire. I am sure the players will up their game in germany, look around at the others we believe are better than us, Brazil, did the lose to boliva at weekend? France, lost around 2 qualifying games so far Italy.. struggling.... Germany... not turning it on in friendlies we can we this world cup, this is best squad for years, and best england manager for ages, who else would u want? as usual people just knock, they don't come up with better solutions... it is probably the same bunch who want to sack BCFC board, |

i have a strange feeling some of u will be pretending u never said this in summer 06, i do believe we will do well. if we can avoid brazil, or let someone else knock them out, I feel even with sven, we could get to semi or final. Germany will be strong because at "home" Brazil will be strong because they are brazil England will be strong as best squad for years also Holland could surprise a few, the are on a high. |

at the moment ill say 5. Theres no denying that sven has great credentials as an England manager, but you only have to look at the players at his disposal to see why (someone with the skill of JP is not even in the team). This team should win the world cup, but there are two main problems I see. 1) the management needs to play a style that makes the most of our players and keeps players in their best positions - he's had long enough to sort this out and he hasnt managed it, that is hugely worrying 2) players need to be motivated enough to perform their best during the whole of the match. Some may argue that this is the managments job, and they'd be right. But the players themselves have a large responsibility and need to realise that playing for England is the ultmate honour and not see it as a chore or a sidetrack to performing for club because they get paid for them. If sven manages to solve 1) and improve 2) then I could see us winning the World Cup, if he cant then he will have failed and deserves to go AFTER the world cup IMO |

I hope your right sam I have been a great supporter of sven over the past few years, however he seems to have lost it a little lately, his subs have always been questionable, but at the moment he doesn't seem to be able to inspire a change... if things aren't going our way, it stays like that?? peter crouch should never play for England either, the man is a joke.. sven shouldn't pick fad players, crouch hasn't scored this season! so he can not be in on form?? |
