Two snippets from a Villa blog... Given the opportunity, should David O'Leary manage the Irish national team? Yes 66.7% No 33.3% “….Like I said, I think Villa will win this and I'm going to predict a 1-0 win. If David O'Leary doesn't get the result I think he'll be out of a job fairly soon and the players know this so it will be interesting to see how much they want the win also….” Whichever manager loses, it looks like a bad week ahead. ;) . |

Think DOL is under more pressure to be honest. With Viles recent derby form and also considering the money he was allowed to spend in the summer, I don't think there is much of a stomach for another defeat over in B6. |

I also think O'Leary is under more pressure. Steve Bruce is very well thought of by our board and even if we loose his job is not yet under threat. the board will show him loyalty because of what he has done for us. O'Leary dosent have that privilege. |

i actually think it's 50/50 o'dreay has to win because of his teams dismal showing against us and he could lose his job. and for us the impitus is the first home win. this is to close to call |

I agree that O'Leary is under more pressure at the moment. With each game we play our performances get better and better - ok so we might not be getting the results but the way i see it we have been building up to this game and a win will kick start our season. Villa have been playing well in patches. Their defence is possibly worse that ours and their attackers are too hit and miss. O'Leary may not have long to go at the Villa if they lose this game. |

I think o'leary is under pressure by a factor of 10 more than bruce. Bruce delivered us to premiership, and has sustained growth and premiership status, the fans recognise that we have an injury crisis in mid field. The board love him, the players love him, we have played well against Liverpool and Arsenal. so even if we lost on sunday he has given us 4 wins already, however D'oL is under pressure, he was lucky that villa turned around the wycombe cup game, that would have been a big nail in coffin, if Blues win on sunday, and other scores go against the villa, they could be in bottom 3, which will worry old doug, he has been manager for long enough to get something happening, but they would have dropped from 6th to were ever they are after the defeat under his management, possibly a slide of 11 places, that would be rocky ground, not sure of their next 3 fixtures, but if a defeat at blues and 2 more quick bad results, he will be first premiership head to go, so pressure is there. |

I agree, a few weeks ago Brucie was under presure, but some battleing performances have put the bounce in our step again where as Odreary has 3 seasons presure and the niggling idea of the ROI job. |

o'leary is under more pressure in this game? erm who is the home side here? villa are predicted to get beat, so if villa win comfortably thats yet another home defeat for you. should we lose its a expected result. dont let your blue specs mislead you. bruce is under more pressure considering he has spent more as well. the fans will get on his back i gurantee that. i mean how long will your board back bruce? if you finish bottom half again and you have bought in afew players you should be targetting top ten. if your board keep coughing up the cash and you cant finish in the top ten then they are fools. theer is only a certain amount the board can give one manager isnt there? |

Blinkered to facts here, IF you lose on sunday you would have failed to beat Blues in 7 attempts, YES SEVEN! If you lose on saturday you may be 18th in league, 12 positions lower than Doug thinks you should be. If you lose your next two games, well one big mess, Bruce has good will and past 3 seasons of success under his belt, Oleary? Nothing but decline, blues know we will lose one game now and again to Villa, so one loss would not be end of world, I believe we have won at villa park twice, out of three visits, and remain UNDEFEATED in the whole premiership history between the 2 sides. I feel that you are ignoring reality, bless! close your eyes and it all goes away... |

you raise some interesting points there but the fans wont get on SB's back if we loose to you we will look at it as we had to loose to you some time. and with the complete domination we have had over you it is not a big loss is it. |

"Blinkered to facts here, IF you lose on sunday you would have failed to beat Blues in 7 attempts, YES SEVEN!" whoppe-do! and you have failed to win any trophys in seventeen years! you must be proud of that achievement, i mean that achievement provides you with extra income and a trophy doesnt it? "If you lose on saturday you may be 18th in league, 12 positions lower than Doug thinks you should be. If you lose your next two games, well one big mess," and if you lose that could be you so whats your point? "Bruce has good will and past 3 seasons of success under his belt, Oleary? Nothing but decline, blues know we will lose one game now and again to Villa, so one loss would not be end of world," three seasons of success really? first season you had a good season, then you finished 10th was it, not bad then you finished 12th last year. great progress considering how much you have spent. you should be finsishing in top ten reguarly but you have failed to do so. oh dear i wouldnt classify that as progress. I believe we have won at villa park twice, out of three visits, and remain UNDEFEATED in the whole premiership history between the 2 sides. "I feel that you are ignoring reality, bless! close your eyes and it all goes away... " are you some sort of bishop? |
