I've asked this amongst my friends many a time - Would it be possible to buy a player?
This doesn't mean a club buying a player, would it be possible for an individual person such as myself to buy a player?! Obviously I wouldn't and it's ridiculous but if you paid the club and the player what they want then surely the player is just working for you? Thoughts?

Didn't Nike try that with a Brazilian player a few years ago ? i.e. buy his registration & then lease him to Nike-sponsored clubs ?

I dont see why this wouldnt be possible.

If you brought the player on behalf of the club then you would keep his registration documents.

There are probably some bizzare rules against this though.

yes is possible, and smaller clubs have had players "bought" by fans, and then wages paid for from same fund. Registration would have to be with the club, and the asset would be on clubs balance sheet, but the club would have borrowed the money from supporters, and the loss would be passed to the "fans fund", ie the deprieciation.

30,000 all paying £300 pound would get us £9,000,000 player, and then we would need to all pay £30 pa £1,000,0000 to pay his wages. total cost for 3 seasons each £390. We would get all money back if we could then sell him for £12mil.

it would be easier to buy the club as a "co-operative"

£30m to buy club, in share of 30,000 £1k shares. Club self funding, generating dividend in excess of 10%, debt free, share holding funding buy-out. Transfer funds, if more than £8m nett required, could be funded by borrowing against assets in short term.

would expect to spend £12m a year on players, and get around £4m in. (net of £8m). Profit at least £5m on £40m turnover. Board elected every 2 years, along with "president/chairman"

could be fun!

Sam I presume that's all tongue in cheek?

We can't even get 26000 home supporters to pay between £25 - £42

Can you imagine the arguing - The mods find it hard enough to control this board?! :D

me suggest something "tongue in cheek"? the thought never crossed my mind, would we really need moderators? and the "pc" brigade...

not sure now...

as for 30,000 investors, would not need to be fans who attend, and is investment, you will see a return, not like paying for ticket and could be 3000 people buying £10k worth of shares

Perhaps we could all own a 'piece' of him like the pitch at Wembley when it was dug up? I mean, I love the idea of having the big toe of a Brazillian international in my fridge next to my yoghurt and milk.

no coma would not be happy with anything, within days he would be shouting "shareholders" out all over again. But to be honest, my proposal is better than anything (only one) he has suggested... (i.e. Jasper Carrot buy out)

Lets wait for his reaction, probably accusing me of plotting with DS to get fans to invest in shares of BCFC....
