am i the only one thinking that Lurch ( i mean crouch ) is the worst striker to ever don the England shirt????

why are high profiles like rooney and owen rallying round the useless t1t???

surely they can't defend him just because they think he's a 'nice bloke' can they???

we all know that big hesk has more to offer in that role than lurch

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?????

regardless anyway great performance lads wtf**

As has been discussed in the England Argentian thread - Crouch played a part in both of Owens goals.

He distracts the centre backs which in turn allows Owen more time and space on the ball to score goals.

We may not be the best striker and i dont want him playing every game in the world cup BUT he does give the strike force another option.

i actually thought he nearly bundled owen over in his poor attempt to get to the ball for owens second.....and imo it was the introduction of j cole who turned the game around for us and produced a 'different option' and not Lurch.

sorry to say i stick by my opinions

J Cole had an influence on the game when he came on. he gave us an attacking option on the left had side rather than Gerrard who is wasted out there.

Crouch and Owen did seem to be in the same position jumping for the ball a few times but this is just a lack on comuuncation and understanding of each others play. It will come with time.

I respect your stance of your opinion and i wouldnt try to change it.

I just feel that Crouch is difficult to defend against and when introduced as a sub it takes time for the defenders to get the measure of him. Whilst they do that, Owen has more time and space on the ball to do what he does best.

I agree about Crouchy having a positive influence on the game. He's very much an unknown quantity and he'll be something that international class defenders are just not used to playing against. They'll be so busy worrying about him that Owen will have more time.

As well as that, if he can manage to win 5/6 knock-downs, we have some great finishers from 20+ yards. Lampard/Gerrard etc.

Crouchy for the squad, definitely.

Crouch contributed to both the 2nd and 3rd goals IMO.

Like St Andies said, not the best for the football purists but certainly gives a better option.

And to be fair what has Heskey done this year? Don't say he's not getting the service - because according to all the stats we have a winger who has put in the most crosses this season.

then Kevin Francis must stand a chance to be in the england setup as well then, cos he would be difficult to defend against

i do understand that he is difficult to defend against, but my god this bloke is playing at the highest level in the country and i just dont think he has what it takes to put on that england shirt.....we will agree to disagree, but i do suggest you look at the 2nd owen goal replay and watch where Lurch drags the defender...if anything it takes him closer to owen and nearly collides with him

I never said he had done anything.

I was answering you saying that Heskey would be a better option.

IMO at the minute he would offer no more than Crouch.

I did see Crouch almost collide with Owen for the 2nd goal when the came was played and he was lucky to get away with it.

The beauty of football eh! We can all have different opinions.

Keven Francis would have been a great player for England

Crouch gets abuse because he is lanky rather than because of his supposed lack of ability. If he was being targeted for such abuse on the basis of being black, gay or muslim (for instance) we would quite rightly be up in arms about it.

In my opinion he is a decent player. Not sure whether he is really international quality, but he is a young player who offers something different. He is going through a difficult patch at club level & will obviously need time to adjust to international level.

Give the bloke a chance, for goodness sake.

Come on Crouchy !!!

Crouch, who plays for Liverpool - 0 Goals this season. Bent, who plays for Charlton has 8 ! Who do you think would be playing for England if they swopped clubs !

The selection of Crouch is a joke, a total joke and for Ericsson to describe him "as a special player" is beyond belief. I have nothing against Crouch personally, it's just that he doesn't score goals and contributes very, very little........Oh and he played for the Vile ;)
