Manchester City v Sunderland on March 2nd Who will you be supporting ?.......another Final similar to our triumph almost 3 years ago A club in relegation trouble (although we were out of the zone at the time of the Final v Arsenal) versus one of the Big 4 sides in England Personally I think Citeh will hammer them 3-0 or 4-0 .....but you never know However well done Sunderland for beating United at penalties and heaping more woe on Davey Moyes ......could he oversee the shortest reign in Man United's post war managerial history ?? Shame on you, Craig Gardner (The Blue Nose Judas).....ballooned the first spot kick......Although it's fair to say some of these spot kicks were absolutely woeful for PL footballers......Wellbeck got a touch of the Rugby conversion jitters as well :LMAO: :kro: |

So so happy for Sunderland. I was sat in a bar with so many Man Utd fans and very little Sunderland fans, and I jumped for joy when Sunderland won. Man Utd 'fans' left very quickly i must say! What a last few minutes! Great game! Anyone else thinking the League Cup latter rounds, are becoming alot more exciting then the FA Cup? Bradford, Sunderland, Blues all in recent years making the Final? Although I suppose Wigan brought the FA cup back to life last season! I love the cups!! :dancer: |

Great for Sunderland and will definitely be supporting them. Lindegaard wasting away on the bench yet again for Manure. |

FA Cup is still the more prestigious competition IMO Cardiff, Stoke , Portsmouth, West Ham, Wigan, Southampton and even Millwall have all reached Finals since the turn of the Millennium though both tournaments tend to be dominated by the elite PL clubs The League Cup is also a good route (and the fastest route in a season) into the Europa League Sunderland would have to win this Final to qualify though In the FA Cup Final you can still get into Europe as losers but only if your opponents have already qualified for the Champions League KRO |

Just realized that Wigan became the first club to win the FA Cup and be relegated the same season So yes, it was a worthy feat that has been largely overlooked.....considering the trophy goes all the way back to the 1870's I still wish they would take the semi finals back to neutral League grounds though.......plus they could also use Cardiff's Millennium Stadium for semi finals as well .....Plenty of grounds have 45,000 plus capacities .....Old Trafford, Etihad, St James Park, Stadium of Light, The Emirates .....some semi finals at Wembley in recent years have not even filled Wembley, semi finals at neutral grounds though carry some so much tradition .....plus the grounds I have mentioned offer less travel time and expenses especially for the clubs in the North......I wouldn't object to Wembley being used if there were two big London clubs involved, that would be an exception to the rule .....However let's say hypothetically Tottenham and Chelsea were in the semis......They could easily play that out at The Emirates Having the semi finals at Wembley simply devalues the Final so much IMHO .....does everything have to be all about the money ? :kro: Edited by PartisanBCFC, Jan 23 2014, 01:42 AM.

I absolutely love the League Cup. You're right about the teams you mentioned - I think when it gets to this stage the teams do give everything. And of course, Bradford last year. Amazing. |

Completely agree Parti. Imagine going to Wembley and playing one of the top 4. You beat them, and then you come away thinking you haven't actually win anything, and you have to do it all again in a few weeks time against probably another one of the top 4. It's a joke having the FA Cup semi's at the same venue as the final. The FA really don't help the cup's status sometimes, and this certainly devalues it. The League Cup is certainly becoming alot more interesting for me anyway! Who knows what could of happened if we'd of beaten stoke on penalties earlier this season.... :silence: |

Quite interesting as you are not the only one I have heard stating the League Cup is overtaking the FA Cup. It could well be the case, and you're right the FA are constantly devaluing their's whereas the Football League are keeping theirs just right. The FA do the following to devalue their competition 1. Two semi-finals at Wembley 2. Shift the KO's of all 4 quarter finals - to suit the tv 3. Shift the KOs of the semi finals - to suit the tv. 4. Have the FA Cup draw at ridiculous times just to suit itv and it's commercials. 5. Have a Friday night cup tie eg Arsenal - Coventry tonight. How carp for the Cov fans. Meanwhile the Football League have kept their competition in tact. Well done. |

The key point here though is that when a team does a League and Cup double , they are always referring to winning the League (PL these days, First Division in the old days) and the FA Cup FA Cup is the more prestigious IMO Also the Charity (Community) Shield is played by the League champions and the winners of the FA Cup .....that has been a tradition since 1908 Don't forget the League Cup was largely ignored by big clubs back in the 60's and the Final wasn't played out at Wembley until 1967 It wasn't until the mid or late 70's that the League Cup winners were handed a spot in the old UEFA Cup (what's ended up as the Europa League today) I do enjoy both tournaments though **thumbup |

Don't forget, they also have the FA Cup final on before the end of the league season... and have it as a 5:15pm kick off. Should be on after the Premier League season is over... on a Saturday, at 3pm. |

Totally agree, MF However, they have gone back to tradition for this year anyway.....after some pressure from the fans and media .....Final is May 17th and after the PL season finishes and back to a Saturday although not sure about the 3pm kick off as of yet .....And that with the World Cup starting in Brazil soon after and England no doubt embarking on a load of friendlies and get-togethers as well Alex Horne, The FA’s General Secretary, said: “We’re well aware that fans and media have been calling for The FA Cup Final to have a day to itself and we’re delighted that this is going to happen for 2014. http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/News/2013/Jun/fa-cup-final-date-2014 :kro: Edited by PartisanBCFC, Jan 29 2014, 01:26 AM.
