Posted Image Just seen Heskey's goal on Sky Sports News. Brilliant. Not only was Upson in the right place to make a very good header, Heskey was even better placed to put away the loose ball. That is exactly what we've been missing up front so far this season. Players in the right place at the right time. Grey did it on Saturday. He anticipated a defensive error and made sure he was in the right position to put away anything that came his way. Heskey was fantastically placed to capitalise upon a bal spilled by the keeper. This shows all the signs of a team growing in confidence. The players are now showing they have the confidence to put themselves where it matters. This time last month, I doubt Uspon would have been anywhere near the ball to nmake the header and we definately would not have had anyone anticipating the loose ball. For me, Grey's goal on Saturday and Heske's tonight coupled with 2 wins in a row indicate better times ahead. It's not going to be easy and West Ham next Monday is not going to be an easy game but the signs are there. Ooh it's lovely to feel confident and have something to feel confident about. We're going to Cardiff. We're on our way. We're going to Cardiff, We're almost there. How we gonna get there? I don't kow. How we gonna get there? I don't care. All I kow is Blues are on their way... **thumbup |

Heskey also had another good chance from a tight angle that bounced almost along the goalline a la Stan in the Preston playoff semi 2nd leg. I was delighted that he scored and ran the length of the pitch to the fans. I must admit though that after every game I get more and more frustrated that Heskey hardly ever gets the ball to feet - he's always flicking it on in the air. IF we want someone to do that, we may as well get Crouch in for half a mil cos he's that bit taller (JOKE) I would also question why we had no striker on the bench again - after Pandiani was subbed heskey was on his own, and seemed to tire (at least that's what I'm putting his taking an age to amble back onside down to) * EDIT * Just read about his injury |

Heskey goal class !!!! Dont think so, when i saw it on TV i thought god i am glad the ref didnt blow for a foul,i have seen many times before the ref giving a foul against the keeper the way heskey dived in. Thats not to say i wasnt pleased that he was in the right place at the right time. As said in earlier threads maybe we are getting our confidence back Here's hoping Bedsbluenose |

Heskey's goal wasn't brillianr because he smashed it through a crowded penalty area from 45 yeards. It was brilliant for us because we not only had Upson in the right place at the right time but we also had Heskey in on the keeper ready for any spillages. Heskey was on the spot when he was needed the most which was brilliant to see after everything that has gone before it this season. Sometimes you have to look at the circumstancs in which the goal is scored, not the actual goal. But then again, some people are so blinkered with negativity they dont' want too see the whole picture. |

I find it hard to believe a minority of people find it necessary to criticise Emile Heskey He was our TOP scorer in the PL last season (his first with the club) 11 goals He often has been asked to play with no stike partner He forced his way back into the England sqaud a few months ago and I just cannot comprehend how Peter Crouch (NO goals for Liverpool in the PL yet) gets the nod ahead of Emile Heskey is our RECORD signing ....6.5 million pounds ...he cost Liverpool 11 million when they signed him He is probably our most commanding player in the air He works tirelessly for the side often defending when we are under pressure Get off the guy's back FFS And check this....SB values the Big Man's presence http://www.football365.com/teams/birmingha...ry_170062.shtml |
