I sat and listened to the BRMB Match commentary last night....
And I have read the majority of posts on this Board in the wake (And that's not Yam Yam for "week" either! Although it is actually....)

We have become a NICE Club....
We have a NICE Manager....
With his NICE Assistant.....
We have a NICE Captain and a NICE Vice Captain on the field of play and
We have become a NICE set of fans and don't sing nor intimidate any more!

I listened to Kevin Broadhurst going ballistic about the apathy; the tactics; the lack of motivation; the "non-thinking" style of football where no-one was even considering what was working and what wasn't; the lack of passion and desire; the lack of strategy; etc etc etc....
And Yes! We won....
We have now beaten the bottom Team in the Premiership and the bottom Team in the Championship during the past three days....

And right now we are all feeling NICE!

wtf** is going on here?
We are supposed to be competitive!
We are supposed to be tribal!
We are supposed to be paying our hard earned money to be entertained and to watch winners!
And we are craving for success!!!!
Look around you....
In football, you don't get success by being NICE!!!
I know it's sad - but it's true!

I listened to Kevin Broadhurst and wandered what difference he would make supporting SB with training, coaching, in the dugout and dressing room....
I thought about Roy Keane, his attitude and his successes and wandered what difference he would make to our midfield....
I thought about Patrick Viera and his determination to win that European Cup!
I thought about John Terry and his look of pride when he leads out Chelski and will eventually lead out England.....
I even thought about Kevin Nolan and the difference he has made to Bolton since he became Captain to the point where he threatened to punch out the lights of anyone who tried to take the armband off him.....

And then I thought about Birmingham City FC......
And I thought just how NICE we are.....
We wouldn't want to upset anyone of any consequence would we by actually winning a game of football.....

Hmm talk of fighting before the match, fans getting passionate on the terracing - chants etc not in the "Hi Millwall we love you" mode.

So we are nice if that is what nice is!

Great Post and I agree, you'd think a winner like Butt would shake things up but he seems to be as uninspired as a few others.

I know he isn't captain (yet), but i've got extremely high hopes for Izzet, judging on this season and the start of last.

O.K. he's a 'nice' player also, but his work rate and ability is immense and I think he'll be the one leading by example over the course of the season (hoping he stays fit) and if we're gonna stay up we'll need him playing as many games as possible.

Totally agree with the first post. My first impression of Millwall last night was 'This is how our ground used to sound'

1 step at a time. So what that they are both bottom of their respective divisions. We have won more games in the past 3 days than we have all season. Getting the problems fixed is a gradual process. The fact that we won is a step in the right direction.

P.S. No game is an easy one, just ask the vile.

Just give some thought to these and also consider who their Team Captains are if you can even think of their names....
Do you remember the NICE Team Captains?

NICE Teams
Southampton
Spurs
Charlton
Blackbum before Ewes
Sunderland
Portsmouth
Fulham
Man City before Pearce
Middlesborough
Boggies
Everton since Gravesen left
Newcastle since Shearer became Captain
Liverpool since they have had NICE Managers

Name the Captains without looking them up....
And ask yourself if you expect any of the above Teams to win honours at the moment....
Are we prepared to accept mediocrity too?

I've heard more tactical knowledge from Broadhurst in one commentary than I have seen down St Andrews all Season....
We need some bite somewhere and it isn't in-house at the moment that's for sure!

Last night Broadhurst said how difficult it was for Brucie and the backroom team at Blues to motivate these highly paid millionaires....
It's about time someone took control around here and got their priorities right!!!

The reason nobody can name them is the fact that non of these teams have been successful, Not that they have been nice. Blackburn Nice????????? successful NOT.

Hi CB....
Thanks for putting my arguement so well....
As you say, this NICEness and lack of success are a combination....
Blackburn were NICE under Souness and unsuccessful....
Now the nasty little beggars are starting to make headway....
Look what they did to that NICE Charlton Team tonight!

What a great post! I was sitting here, listening to Broadhurst and I thought he was going to have a heart attack with the performance in the 2nd half....

BY THE WAY EVERYONE........

We didn't beat Millwall in a game of football. It was a draw, 1-1 after 90 mins and 2-2 after 120 mins. We beat them in a penalty shoot out, but WE DIDN'T WIN THE MATCH.

Obviously they have been successful but not currently....
And they don't look like they will be either....
Think back to the times when they were successful....
Liverpool had nice Managers like Shankly.....
And nice Captains like the passionless Emlyn Hughes and the soft tackling Tommy Smith....
Spurs of course had Bill Nicholson in charge with nice gentlemen like Dave McKay in their Team....
Even Leeds when they were successful had the courteous Don Revie as their Manager with Bremner, Lorimer, Cooper, et al in their Team....
Players who would apologise, help you up off the ground and shake your hand if they administered an unfair tackle....
The Captain and the players of a Team reflect their Manager and Blues are just like Brucie....
We are just too NICE....
And as a consequence will never achieve the success to meet the expectations of the Fans....
Were Brian Clough and Peter Taylor NICE people?
Was George Graham a NICE person?
Do Wenger, Mourinho and Ferguson act diplomatically and politely and keep their opinions of their rivals to themselves?
Or do they praise the opposition and say how wonderful certain players are like Brucie does?
Nice bloke is Brucie....
Let's have him on the TV pundit panels....
How many successful Managers do you see on TV pundit panels?
NONE!!!
The successful ones are still out their every matchday driving and inspiring their Teams to be successful.....
And whilst the Manager does it in the dressing room like Broadhurst does in his commentary....
Their Captain (Keane, Viera, Terry, etc) does it on the pitch!
Ask yourself why Manure are suddenly sliding backwards....
The players are just going through the motions....

I hate to call them a NICE Team.....
But in this context the Vile are no different with their NICE Manager DOLLY....
I'm telling you that we are in trouble unless we get some bite somewhere....
We need a Martin Grainger as Captain on the pitch and if any player isn't pulling his weight 100% then the Captain will give him the b**ll*cking he deserves....
Who in our current Team screams and shouts at the other players and tries to drive them forward?
One person only....
Neil Kilkenny!
