SkyDaz asked me to put this preview on here for him!

Darren Porter, Blues' representative on Sky Sports fanzone, gives us his take ahead of our next game against West Ham.

Occasionally two poor lowly teams play each other in what would normally be deemed a meaningless encounter but the sheer magnificence of the result brings a smile to fans the world over. Well done Doncaster Rovers.

Our second victory of the season meanwhile over the Black cats was quite simply enormous. Sunderland are adrift and like a drowning man clutching at any last hope of survival they frantically tried to hang on as we swam away from them, without any particular style or stroke, for safety. That one win alone does not guarantee anything. We don't get to stay in the Premiership because we beat the bottom team. Quite frankly everyone should beat Sunderland and they should be relegated with the lowest points ever. I don't have any major dislike of the Mackems, their fans are magnificent, well, most of them anyway. They are, by their own admission, a poor team, lacking passion, fight and any light at the end of the dark tunnel. Their season ticket holders deserve medals. Losing consecutively at home to Villa and Blues must be disheartening.

A lot has been made of the contribution of the three substitutes for the only goal of the game. None of Pennant, Pandiani or Gray have done anywhere near enough to justify a starting berth. Last season Pennant was not only linking up with Melchiot in a dream team partnership but seasoned hacks were considering whether his crminal record could be overlooked in order for him to be in the England squad. In the World Cup year! Pandiani was the darling of Northern Spain and courted by major clubs all over europe, but somehow we conviced El Rifle to come to St. Andrews. Julian Gray played so well at anfield that many Scousers must have wished he was playing for them that day. One year on ...

Pennant has stopped doing what pennant does. Taking players on, delivering deadly all and causing havoc in opposition defences. Pandiani looks like a foreigner stranded in a strange country. Gray just looks disinterested. But fair play to Steve Bruce he had the strength of his convictions to drop them and make them see what wee have to see. the only difference is that we have to pay for it!

Certainly the three linked up well for the goal and here's hoping that the can all understan what is required of them and start performing as we have expected. The situation we are in demands that they roll up their pampered sleeves and earn their caviar.

Our win in the Carling/Worthington/Milk/Orangeade/ Cup was welcome despite it dragging on for most of Tuesday night against the poorest side in The Coca Cola Premier/Nationwide/Division One/Two. As fans we ll love a good cup run and no doubt if we get to the final fifty thousand people will complain on Central/ITV/Charlton news that they have been fans since the 1950s/60s/70s but because of the saturation coverage on television haven't been to a game since the 80s/90s/00s but still deserve a ticket and that nasty Karren Brady shouldpersonally deliver one to their front door. The only long term hope is that the cup doesn't detract from the league.

It was nice for Gray to notch again and Emile to get on the scoresheet and Nico to save a penalty but most of all it was great to beat Millwall. They sing that no one likes them and they are right. There are tribes in the deepest Amazon who have never seen a football let alone listened to SkyDaz who hate Millwall. Its a given at birth.

So now we go into the ring with Millwall's neighbours West Ham. Everyone loves the Happy Hammers with their blowing of bubbles, East End charm, jellied eels and devotion to total football. Don't they?

Do not forget my fellow noses that those claret and blue southern softies have failed miserably to read the script so far. Them and the Wigan Piers have both made a commendable effort to avoid the instant drop. Damn unfair I say. A big hoorah for Sunderland who at least have the dignity to be rubbish and go straight back down. These Premier new boys need to learn their role in the grand scheme of things and get back down into the bottom three. None of that malarky in the top half of the league taking the places off us big clubs with a divine right to be there. We should shake our fists at them. In a non threatening way of course Bl00dy upstarts.

Quite frankly Birmingham we're going to survive this season thanks to the likes of Wigan and West Ham, but their opening good form has placed a large metal tool in the machinery. Sheringham has nudged a few in with his pension book, Harewood has proved to be London's answer to Heskey, but with goals, and Yossie looks like the best thing to come out of Israel since ......

Let's hope this time the weather holds off and the Monday night game goes ahead. I'm not sure what this country is deteriorating into but last week's slight flurry of snow caused my forty five minute trip home to take four hours. How would we cope if we had some proper weather? Tut Tut, well it's time for me to get my thermals on and get into my sleeping bag under the quilt after putting the heating on full.

Keep right on men. And women.

Hayley, you did not say if Skydaz wanted replies or reactions?

I'll be brief. :D

I honestly do not know how he gets away with it!
What Skydaz says seems to be welcomed and applauded across the board.

YET

What he says, is in total sync with the concerns and criticisms that began on this board 12-18 months ago. Admittedly it was infrequent and possibly by some people whose "expectations were too high" as Steve Bruce says.

The way Skydaz disarms and bluntly states the objective truth, with humour, goes a long way to helping the constructive crit be accepted, I think.

If Skydaz posted his opinions under another name on the main board, he would be castigated by the vitriolic, patrolling protectors of the "No Criticism Society".

So I'm glad, because he says what a lot of people, (who pay), say, at the end of a match.Going down the steps it is not a bundle of laughs.

Some of the patrolling protectors should open their ears and realise that what has been said by many people about the leadership and management of blues, is not the comment of a few, but....
unfortunately the comment of many, many fans.

20,000 hardcore supporters who grumble and criticise and don't go to the shop after a home display....and 10 very busy members of the "No critiscism Society" does not balance up...does it?

Well done Skydaz. Keep your humour. KRO.

Cheers.

.
ps.
Sorry I wasn't brief.

Bluenose or Brownnose?

Seriously, Skydaz makes reasoned observations without resorting to "sack bruce" knee jerk reactions.

There's nothing wrong with criticism where it's due.

It's just that we've won two matches in the last week and some of us are being castigated for cheering that fact.

We won TWICE this week! Rejoice!

Or dig a big whole and bury yourself every time we don't trounce a team 4-0!

Yes. I do rejoice. How well we won

Do you not see, at all, that people who are concerned about the way we play, with the bloody fantastic players we have, cannot marry up our position in the table, to our performances ?

Good managers and coaches utilise their full resources.
Steve Bruce talks about Kilkenny as if he was a temporary and succesful...finger in the dyke.....& he won't come back too soon will he? Now Muzzy & David & Butt are available?
Steve Bruce has used less than 50% of his available squad...why...because he is a scared manager and will only stick with premier-aged players.

Steve Bruce picks the team by the payroll.
He tries to justify his purchases, and that is why we are .....
....where we are. Highest wage earner, first on the sheet. Second highest, second on the sheet...etc etc...

For goodness sake, I've been down blues from Pickering's days.
I've seen enough ballsups and heartbreaks to last me three lifetimes. I do not need your patronsing Thatcheresque chant of REJOICE, mate.

We crawled through, on penalties, against a club bottom at the Championship league.
We won by one goal against a team beaten by everybody in the Premier League.

REJOICE???....

If we win another match in the premiership, home or away, I will rejoice.
But
we won't.
Because Steve Bruce is incapable of organising,
motivating,
energising,
planning
or supervising any kind of camaraderie, spirit or joy...
within the team...
or worst...now....

amongst the fans.

He is a dead hand.

Good morning!
Reactions and replies are always welcome. I certainly never set out to write an article on behalf of the other fans. My writing is my view point. Down the pub after a game I hear hundreds of varying opinions and not all of them agree with mine. I take them on board and accept that they are entitled to their opinion. The idiots!
I have never jumped on any bandwagon re sackings, the abuse of players etc. but I will write as I find in the cold light of day some time after the match when the furore or rejoicing has abated.
Thanks for reading anyway. I do appreciate it. When I'm rich and famous I might still talk to some of you. Might.

You sound like David O'Leary :D

Based on your assumptions it's amazing we have won any games during our time in the Premiership.

Bah, Humbug :P

I wasn't trying to patronise you and I'm sorry if it came over that way. What's wrong with Thatcher anyway? She wore blue and stuck by what she believed in through thick and thin. ;)

My point is very simple; that we have all seen some god awful results, with 7 or more key players injured.

Then we get 2 wins on the trot, and some still aren't satisfied.
And would you believe there are fans at Wigan calling for Paul Jewell's head because they've lost a couple of matches.

It's the easiest thing in the world to moan.

Ironically, Sunderland and Millwall were games where the play wasn't totally great but we won.
How many times have we been happy with the style of play and lost? At the moment I'd take the first option.
