mid season... bottom of the table, bottom of the Top tier, it's just like the good old days, a typical season in the life of a bluenose <_< But what really gets my goat is saturday football...where has it all gone?? Here we are nearly mid season and by the time we kick of on Monday...it'll have been a whole month since we played Newcastle on Sat Nov 5th. I miss my Saturday Footie.

Probably the main reason why I haven't renewed my ST this year.

I play golf on Sundays and like many others I work Monday to Friday, never knowing what time I am going to finish. Even if I had a ST I would have been able to attend less than 50% of home games so far. Just not economically viable.

You don't have football on saturdays? Strange, in Finland we have the same thing, the finnish television may show the cup final if it's on saturday but no premier league matches cause they're on canal +. Fhucking sheet.

edit. Haha, I'm cursing my arce off.

Apparently Middlesbrough haven't had a single home Saturday 3pm kick off this season.

I think you don't realise the FINANCIAL side of football
The game is truly GLOBAL these days and money dictates everything
How did you think PL clubs can afford all these big name players ??
Sky Sports and the other TV networks sink hundreds of millions of pounds into the Premier League yearly and it is similarly supported in Italy and Spain with huge TV rights
And LIVE games go out every weekend (and on all the weekdays) ALL over the planet

True, the games are spread out over Saturday,Sunday and Monday but it's been done this way for some years now and it also helps to give the smaller clubs (Blues,Charlton,Welshburn,Bolton,Fulham,Albion,Boro,Pompey, etc) more exposure and give the fans of these clubs more access to watching their favourite teams regularly .....I certainly don't want to go back to the old Saturday night highlights format of having Man United,Arsenal and Liverpool rammed down our throats every week of the season

The companies insist on staggered kick-offs on three days of the week so thay can show as many LIVE games as they can....this is based on concesus and feedback that the supporters out there actually wanted

Sunday is in most cultures considered a day of rest so why not show Sunday games??....they are also scheduled to help those clubs involved in Europe (both the CL and UEFA Cup) but more notably the UEFA Cup where games are currently played on Thursdays AGAIN to appease a wide TV audience get an extra days rest
Even the CL groups are played over Tuesdays and Wednesdays to purely satisfy television contracts

And also spare a thought for those people who have to WORK on Saturdays and Sundays (or they play football themselves) or even both days....they look forward to the Monday night games

I disagree with noon or morning kick-offs but any club shouldn't really moan about playing between 1pm and 515pm........it's only a few hours......Don't see too many of the Premiership chairmen complaining,do you ???.....Of Course not....TV MONEY is the bread and butter...get used to it

ATL
As I mentioned in the previous post....this is mainly due to Middlesboro's involvement in the UEFA Cup

Ask Steve Mcclaren if he'd prefer to play Saturday after a gruelling trek across Europe just two days before and I know what the answer would be

I also recall Manchrester City were forced to play THREE PL games in five days a couple of years back and amazingly they didn't even complain

WHY ???....well,two of the games were scheduled live on TV so put two and two together and what do you get ????.......a lot of dosh in the bank account ....Get my drift ?

yes money plays a big part... but it gets to a stage when people stop attending and viewing (see italy)

as you say Sunday is a day of rest so spare a thought for those of us who have to go to a match at 12, 1 or 4? not much rest there!!

Monday nights are sh1t, first day back at work and you have to rush around to make the match!

yes sky is great, but they should spare a thought for the fans who go to the matches aswell
