World Cup - how the draw will work

FRIDAY'S draw starts at 8.15pm (BBC2) and is due to finish at 9.45pm.

The eight seeds — Germany, Brazil, England, Spain, Mexico, France, Argentina and Italy — will be drawn into eight different groups. Hosts Germany have already been allocated Group A and holders Brazil Group F.

The five African countries — Angola, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo and Tunisia — will be in pot two with Australia and the two remaining South American sides, Paraguay and Ecuador. These will be placed into eight different groups, though Paraguay and Ecuador will avoid Brazil and Argentina.

Pot three contains eight unseeded European sides — Czech Republic, Holland, Portugal, Sweden, Croatia, Switzerland, Poland and Ukraine — who will be drawn into the eight different groups.

The remaining European side, lowest-ranked Serbia & Montenegro, will be paired with either Brazil, Argentina or Mexico to ensure there are no more than two European sides in any group.

The four Asian countries — Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Iran — join the USA, Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago in pot four. These sides will be placed into seven different groups. Mexico cannot get the USA, Costa Rica or Trinidad & Tobago.

Clear as mud as usual ;o) Time to get the beers in...

I'd like us to get:

Ghana (where my wife's family is from)
Poland (just to even up THAT result in the early 70s)
Trinidad & Tobago (lots of Caribbeans in this country should make for some good times at the pub!)

Group 2: Ivory Coast (Drogba, Toure)
Group 3: Holland
Group 4: Serbia or USA

Countries England will want to meet:
Group 2: Angola
Group 3: Switzerland
