With all the interest Newcastle had with Steve Bruce a while back, does anyone else think it's possible that when Bruce renewed his contract a clause was put in about giving him the sack? ie huge compensation? ... With Sulivan's recent comments I'm starting to wonder whether it's not a case of loyalty, but that we *can't* sack Bruce?

... Hmm?

yes this is the reason they dont want to sack him as they would have to pay too much compo. This must have been inserted when he rejected Newcastle

I believe it would cost us around £2mil to sack Bruce in compensation.

I would suggest that is a more likely reason for Sullivan being so loyal, although if we go down to Championship surely loss of revenue from leaving the Prem would be greater than 2 million???

There is a clause in Bruces contract, if we sack Bruce now we'd have to pay him 4m in compensation, but if we get relegated we only have to pay him 1m compensation.

Our owners havent made as much money and been as succesful as they have been by being loyal.

The only reason Bruce is still in a job is because it would cost too much to get rid of him.

If Bruce could be sacked for 500k, i think he'd have been long gone by now,.

Sacking bruce = 2 - 4 million, relagation = 15 - 20 million+

the maths are easy - so its out of loyalty, although whether its blind loyalty reamins to be seen

if they wanted rid, and thought the new guy would keep us up, it more than pays for itself - so thats not the reason, its genuine loyalty, something lots of people wouldnt recognise if it bit their balls ;)
