Massive bonus for us but......

lets not get too carried away. He was superb today and i will praise him as high as anyone on here for the performance, and he definitely deserves to stay in the team. We must be careful though as we'll only see if our left back problems are solved after we've seen him in 10 or so games.

Secondly, i've put forward the idea that Bruce is psychologically scarred by youngsters coming through on this board before and amongst my mates. I really believe he has a problem with it because of them ultimately heralding a new era at Man Utd and forcing Brucie out!!! I can only see two things happening if Bruce stays in charge:

1 - Painter isn't the player his debut promised and doesn't make it for us
2 - Painter is a class player who changes the game everytime he plays. Because of this, Brucie sells him to Albion for nowehere near his worth.

Sorry to be so down!! But when it comes to youth players, as long as Bruce is in charge, i can never see one really coming through for us.

Yup, totally agree. Well done Mr Painter and thank you so much for making our left hand side look like a left hand side for the first time in donkeys years.

Lesson for Mr Bruce, if you're good enough it doesn't matter how old you are, Kilkenny & Painter are shining examples. Well done lads

Well done to him.

But he is young and will make mistakes so we have to be patient.

It would be asking too much of him to expect him to play every game over Christmas - be fair to the young bloke.

i dont think we need to but a LB in the jan transfer window, maybe a RB and CF thought. Painter did really well today and he didnt do any stupid mistakes some other players do who ean double what he does and have 10times more experiance also he looks like john terry so were half way there

Painter did very well. He lacks a little going forward, overlapping etc, but that will come with experience. Defensively he looked good and he passed the ball well.

Don't forget we've also got Matt Sadler just coming back from injury. The lad did well a couple of years back and I wouldn't write him off. I'd like to see him rotated with Painter.

Well done Marcus ! **thumbup

Maybe because he's more used to playing centrally of late.

Totally agree **thumbup ... hope to see a lot more of him in the next weeks and to see him doing just as well against sides with a bit more ambition going forward than Fulham managed yesterday :D

I went to senior school with Painter, great to see him do so well.

Same here mate, I played in the School team with him and I know him quite well, he deserves everything hes got becasue hes worked bloody hard for it. Fair play to him.

I think he did well especially when you consider how poor Stan was. He had very little help or support from him.

Dont get me wrong I love Stan to bits but there is something not at all right with him this season - be it injury, be it playing in different positions each week I dont know but he cant have many excuses for Saturday.

On his game Stan is great to watch - I hope he finds it again soon.

**thumbup Excellent performance. Its not easy going into a pressure situation, like he did, with crucial points at stake, the crowd hardly inspiring. But he should hold his head up high. He showed a few seniors the way to play!

Too right it does, speaking of the youngsters does anyone konw how Oji is getting on at Doncaster?? I think its them anyway.

was watching Football League Review on Sky Sports the other day, Oji come on as a sub when Doncaster were 3-1 up and he made a massive mistake which the opposition scored from, but they still won 3-2.

he tried a headed backpass to his keeper but it was far too short and he was punished for it
