Left back, unless he keeps faith with youngsters sadler and painter and give them a consistant run in that position then we need an experience new left back.

If rumours are true that Mario is leaving in the jan sale, then we will need a right back..what youngster can play in that role? But again for this season we will need experience.

For me we need a right sideded midf player who will challenge jamaine penna who for me is not consistant enough and this position needs strenghening.

A new centre back for replacment and cover for kenny.

And a top notch goal scorer, and for me someone like robbie keane could fit the bill, or does brucy go european? Sahme about the forceeeeeeeee because im sure when he gets his sharpness back and touch he can delivery. Not sure if this will be acheievd during this season.

Im sure we can get out of trouble with the present squad, but new players in theses roles will imo improve our squad and chances. Four quality players for me needed in jan, total cost £20 million have the board got the bottle? Just have to wait and see. What you think guys and gals?

I agree that we need players for those positions that you have mentioned but i can not see the board sanctioning another £20mil of signings. I think we will be lucky to get £2mil.

Painter is not a natural left back but he has played well there. Sadler suffered a horrific injury and from all reports still looks off the pace at the moment.

Alex bruce can play right back and looks pretty good there. If mario did leave - which i dont think he will - then young bruce would be great cover.

We do need an attacking ride sided player who can push Pennant but Matt Birely is doing a good job on that side in the reserves. if he is given a good run out in the fa cup game in jan he stands a chance.

A long term replacement is needed for Kenny. I would love to see someone like Wes Brown, John OShea etc to come here but we would need an immense turna round in fortune to get them here.

A 4th stiker is the most important position IMO. Someone with pace and an eye for a goal. keane would be ideal but i dont think the board will pay that much for him. Earnshaw and Jerome are the more realistic targets.

I don't think that we need any new players (except a long term replacement for KK).

Our problems this season have been due to :

- lack of effort / energy / bite

- poor tactics

- injuries

- bad luck / form

- lack of organisation

- big name players not doing the business

Buying more players is just throwing money at the problem.

Get a settled team, get them organised & get them fighting for the cause.

RB = DJ, LB = Painter / Clapham

We have 3 expensive, experienced strikers already. Getting them to shoot every now and then would be a better idea than spending money on a 4th.

have stated for a long time that we need a left back, and 4th striker, feel we have enough in mid field, and Upson and Cunningham are ok, but no squad back up when injured.

We don't need a new centre-back to replace Kenny, we need a new centre back to deputize for Taylor.

I think we should find a 4th striker first, we need someone with pace maybe Leroy Lita, or Keane.

a centre-half and a right-back is the next position to fill, I'm more than happy to stick painter at left-back for the rest of the season.

Eventually (August 2006 if we've stayed up) we will need:

Right Back (As Mario won't be here, )

Left Back (As painter is a CB, and Clapham is a bit suspect)

Centre Back (Although I think Kenny has been our best defender this season, and has to sign an extension if we are relegated.)

Left Winger (Stan will leave, Gray should only be a squad member)

Pacy 4th Striker

For January 2006 we need:

Pacy 4th Striker

Left Back

Suggestions - add your own, dispute some of mine

Pacy 4th Striker: AJ, Lita, Thomas, Earnshaw (although i don't rate him as highly as some on here), Lisbie, Webber

Left Back: Bridge (can't see it happening though), Traore (if he can sort out his concentration problems), Robinson (@ the Baggies, very underrated), Naysmith, Lachor

Yeah Painter looked good, but on the strength of one game against an impotent Fulham attack, you want him in a premiership side till the end of the season

I think we should go for fulhum's Zat Knight as a centr-half, just read something interesting on newsnow.co.uk that fulhum are willing to allow him to move on a permernant deal, and villa are apparently after him. So it would be a good snatch if we got him before villa.

Bigger long ball merchant than Upson.

At least Tiny tries to play the ball out.

Buying more players is just throwing money at the problem.

But one of our problems is lack of variety in our forward players, none of them has any pace, and all play similar roles.

Getting a Pacey striker is a necessity, not a luxury.

The same can be said for a left back, with only Clapham as a recognised player for that role.

Thats not throwing money at a problem, thats good management.

Read the rest of my post BB. We are not in the relegation zone because we don't have enough left backs.
