Clapham has admitted that playing left midfield is where he plays best. Don't forget it was his perfect pass to Heskey that ended in a goal against Fulham. Painter played a fine game last Saturday at left back, so it would be advisable to keep him there. As for Gray and Lazaridis... well, they really do not justify a place on the bench, judging from their recent performances. Are there any more youngsters from the Academy who could take their places? |

I thought about having a moveable 18 foot tall and 60 wide wide wall on the touchline and when we are defending roll it on and then when we get the ball back roll it off. |

Birley is a great prospect who can play both wings if needed but he is better and more confortable on the right wing. I dont think Clapham is cut out to be a left winger to be fair. besides which, when we have Forssell fit again and we revert to a 4-4-2 Dunn will take up the lefty hand role. |

It may be were he enjoys it best, but it doesn't mean thats where he plays best. Playing him left wing is a little too unadventurous for my liking, while he's been really struggling at left back over the last 12 months and can't cut it IMO (although the coaching staff might have spotted that earlier than 12 months ago because he was being inexplicably dropped consistently, and no one could work out why) |

Thats asking a lot St.Andrews. :P As you say Dunn is likely to fill the left hand position when we play 2 up front. albiet until he gets the ball and goes wandering. I'd also like to see a bit more of Pennant up front - he'd give us something we lack up front and thats pace. |

and dont forget it was him too at the baggies who crossed the ball for heskey to head home ! I dont agree with your comments on gray and stan, stans a good player get through defences and onto the edge of the box, gray is pacey (something we need) and a good thinker he scored at millwall and sunderland he gets himself into good positions. but with 3 competing for a place thats good news ! |

Unfortunately Clapham's got no pace. Stan and Gray have, but have poor delivery! |

stan used to be the best crosser of the ball at blues so i think you are wrong there. |

Lol - not both wings at the same time! I know he is quick but he aint superman! If we do continue to play 1 up front then i would like to see Dunn and Pennant play as Robben and Duff do for Chelsea. |

Stan has a great delivery. I'm afraid he has just lost a yard of pace with all his injuries and relies solely on his left foot which is his downfall. When dribbling he is unable to weave in and out, he justs runs in a straight line. |

"Stan used to be the best crosser of the ball at blues". Quite correct, Krokid, he USED to be, but where was he last Saturday? Clapham says (on Sky Sports) that he was brought to St. Andrews as a midfielder not a defender. Perhaps another case of playing guys out of position. |

No because there was no way Clapham was good enough to be a real threat down that left wing, when we had Stan and then Dunn. Clapham did well at Left Back, but can't cut it any longer there. What about Michael Tonge from Sheffield United next summer, when Stan and Gray probably leave (unless we are relegated that is). |

I think that, for the forseeable future, the solution down the left is Dunny. Although I think he would be best in the middle, at the moment I think it would be better for the TEAM if he played on the left with Kilkenny/Jiri as attacking centres and Dj/Butt as defensive. And play TWO UP FRONT!! That would give us the ideal balance IMO. |

I agree about Dunn but you always need actual left footed options in a squad, and I just can't see Stan, Clapham and Gray being around much longer unless we get relegated. |
