Jordan won't sell AJ to us, as he hates our board, and if AJ hands in a request, he'll attract other clubs. Although I'd love to see AJ back in a blues shirt, it won't happen anytime soon. So why not just pay £3million for Earnshaw. Then look for a centre-half and a left-back.

Buy, buy, buy! Scored 11 in the prem last season FFS. What are we waiting for? £2.5m cash should do. Sully must have that down the back of his sofa ;-)

Even if Earnshaw dosent immediately score bagfuls for us, his pace upfront would allow us to vary our game a bit and would unsettle teams.

His lightening pace alone would improve our often 1 dimentional attacking play no end.

Also as Earnshaw himself pointed out in the paper today he has scored goals at highbury, old trafford and anfield, not bad going in his first season in the prem.

We could have Ronaldinio, Van Nistelroy, Henry Crespo & Owen in our squad. They won't get a goal without service from the midfield which is the most wrooying part about it all for me - the lack of service.

BTW - anyone else notice Earnshaw didn't get cup-tied yesterday??? :o

:( I was really hoping to wake up this morning to find we had had an offer accepted for Earnie.
My theory of why he isn't being played at the baggies is from the story in the notw yesterday and how he has written to the FA asking them to look into his transfer from Cardiff, maybe they are worried it will come out that it wasn't all above board and are worried about the implications.

Just having a pacey striker, forces the opposition to change their gameplan. This more often than not creates other openings, or mistakes by the defence.

Being one dimentional, or having similar styled forwards, means the opposition can prepare all week into stopping that one style of play. Ours being the lump to Heskey or out wide to Pennant. They work all week to combat that.

IF we had a pacey forward, they would have to be aware of runs behind the defence, more movement, which will drag the defenders all over. Thus more often than not, forcing the gameplan to be changed and indecision with defenders.

Others teams do it, why not us?

One of our problems in the final third is Heskey, not actually himself, but when you hoof it to him all the time, opposition stick there defenders on him which makes his game a LOT harder to play. If we mix our game up with passes on the floor with the odd one over the top and through balls to Earnie the opposition defence will have problems

That poll is quality nice spot Affy

Edit: On earnie, I don't know how Robson can pick Geoff(as much as I love him in a purely manly way) ahead of Earnie who scored 14 goals last season

spot on it's about creating attacking opportunities with and without the ball

Agreed.

Having a pacey striker would mean we can vary our attack from time to time and make it harder for the opossing team to defend against.

The presence of a striker like this in the team will automatically mean we have a different option. At the moment we are far too one dimensional and this will be our downfall.

Well with Portsmouth and Everton showing interest, there's even more emphasis on Blues to get him.

Don't grumble about an extra 500k/£1m or so, as if we lose out, it'll cost more in the long run. He'll certainly improve their chances of staying up.

Make THEM settle for their 3rd or 4th choice, not us! We don't want to be the ones settling for the poorer quality striker with them having the pick of the crop!

That extra £1mil ontop of Blues valuation is chump change if THAT player keeps you up. Its nothing compared to the money you lose being relegated.

Can't really see it if Walter is staying. We now have 4 strikers, and whilst I am fully aware of the desperate need for a striker with pace, can you really see the board sanctioning this if we have Forssell, Heskey, Sutton and Pandiani?

Not only this, but Earnshaw wants to move for a reason, First team football. His situation at Birmingham may in fact be even worse if he came in terms of first team action.

I cannot see Birmingham signing another striker, however desperate our need.... :(

I wouldn't count Forssell as a striker at the moment he is still coming back from Injury and I don't think he will be 100% till next season which may be too late

intresting point you made. However i can see us getting another striker as this is where the giggest problem is. The problems at the back probably wouldn't be half as bad if the ball was held up top more often and the pressure on the back four was less.

If we don't buy we'll need to promote because to ignore the problem is suicide IMO
