Not a bad draw.

I think i would rather play west brom than reading!

The one that says west brom./reading is correct as i have just watched it on bbc.

Villa have Port Vale.

bbc site is crap, originally said b'ham v portsmouth, then v liverpool, so we have home against WBA or reading?

Away mate.

Rightly or wrongly I'd rather be in the prem next season after being knocked out the FA cup by tourquay than be in the championship after winning the FA cup the season before, given a choice of course.

yeah but if he wanted to lose that game he could have played Tebily. At least that way we'd be garunteed a loss!

i've said this on here get knocked out as quik as possible, less games less chance of injuries and less tierd players needing to be rested.

the league is all that matters.

I listen to it with some mates all but one a bluenose and we all wanted to get knocked out for the good of the league campaign as long as we didnt get thumped, we also all agreed that knowing blues luck we'd probably get a replay DOH!!

lets face it were playing Reading in the next round.

I can't see WBA punching there way out against reading. If we were than to go out of the comp at least its to a team two league places below us as aposed to 70 odd places

It's the biggest competition that we have a realistic chance of winning.

If we are only going to try to win competitions when we are in mid-table safety then we are never going to win anything.

Agreed Doc, I know we still have to beat Torquay, but if we do, then go out to either Reading or the Baggies it wont seem that bad.

League status is far more important, IMO.

There were similar "the Cup's a distraction" posts last season.

There's a reason why other fans sing "You've never won **** all" at us.

We never will either if we have this kind of defeatist, limp-wristed attitude.

"Come back up, WIN the cup...". Not, "Come back up, but let's knocked out of the cup as soon as possible, even though it's the biggest competition that we have any chance of winning and generations of Blues fan have grown old and died hoping in vain for us to win it, because we're bricking ourselves about getting relegated and our thirty-odd man squad might not be able to cope with an extra four games, ffs".

I dont remeber them posts what a fantastic memory you have. What is best for the CLUB is the financial benefits involved in playing in the premier league which are greater than that of winning the FA Cup. Ask all the teams in the lower league Premier league status or FA Cup win and im sure they wont spend to much time pondering the question.

If people sing "you never won f*** all" at you and it upsets you just ignore them they'll soon get bored and find somone else to pick on ;)

Seriously mate answer me straight FA cup or Premier league status?

That question supposes that it's either/or which I do not accept.

I've seen Blues relegated and promoted several times. I'm sure that I will see it again the future.

I've never seen Blues win the cup. Neither did my dad or my grandad. Not sure that my son will ever see it either if we don't even try to win it.

Straight question for you :

In the distant future when you're bouncing your grandkids on the knee would you rather be telling them

- about the year when Blues won the cup for the first time ?

- about the year when Blues finished 17th ?

I'd rather be telling them about the year we nearly got relegated but then managed to learn from our mistakes stayed in the league and qualified for europe the year after ;) **thumbup

Yeah, kids are suckers for fairtytales :P

Seriously, the chances of anyone remembering "the year we nearly got relegated" in ten years time are practically nil. Just another season....

I think that our ambitions should extend to more than just qualifying for competions anyway. Even if we do qualify for Europe we'll end up treating it as "a distraction".

Quite an uninspiring draw overall,no games jump off the page at ya.

As far as us goes,i`ve never wanted us to lose a single game nor have i ever wanted us to exit a competition,if we play a weakened squad and go down fighting then fair enough but surely not wanting us to get knocked out.

Seeing as the thread has turned into a Q & A session i have this one,Should we get beat by Torquay/Reading/WBA as some of us appear to want will those same people be coming on here to praise Bruce for purposely losing or will they be coming on here shouting for his head `sack him, disgusting losing to League one/Championship side, embarrassing, worst manager ever`???

I think we all know the answer to that one.
