Why does Bruce continue to be so enamoured with Euell?? It sometimes seems like once Brucie sets his mind on bringing in a player, time nor circumstances waivers his drive or desire to sign them. But who knows? Maybe Euell would do well.

We'll only find out if he is any good by buying him, but we could also find out how rubbish he is also. I'd rather go for a safer bet with Earnshaw and I think Charlton are building him up so they can sell him to be honest.

Earnshaw wasnt actually going to be released from WBA was he? Hes put in two transfer requests to no avail, and has now questioned the legality of his transfer from Cardiff so it seems more a case of Earnshaw now trying to force his way out.

Let's hear your pearls of wisdom on who we should bring in then? Who has the attributes we so desperately desire, who we can afford, and who is available?

This should be good!

I would take this rumour with a pinch of salt - they have to write something and what better to write than to link us with a player we used to be interested in.

Euell is not what we are looking for (now we have brought Sutton in, and it looks like Pandiani will be staying), we all now this

You could be right about both of them :o But as far as i have read Earnshaw is not being released by WBA despite him going to the press and FA about how his own transfer from Cardiff to WBA was carried out.

As for Euell well ermmmmm can i get back to you on that one

Maybe Bruce can only go for Euell because he is affordable.
Maybe Bruce can only go for 'dead wood' because they are available.
Maybe our 'big spending board' will dig their hands in their pockets and make £15 million available for Robbie Keane and Phil Jagielka. Maybe not.
Sacking Bruce doesn't make any difference. The next manager will still get peanuts to spend on monkeys.

Isn't Jason E, older than Chris S?
And wasn't he dropped repeatedly by Curbishley for lack of fitness amongst other reasons?

Just curious as to why he is suddenly a cool target amongst some of us. ;)

Euell is actually 28 compared to Sutton whos 32 or 33. But i hope there is no merit to the rumour, imo we'd be better off with Jerome or Earnshaw or now Hasselbaink.

Thats a relief, so he's only unfit, not old and unfit

Jason Euell is a QUALITY player and can play as a striker and in midfield

He has plenty of pace and is very good in the air

He cannot get into the Charlton side as he was just out for 3 months with a dislocated shoulder and prior to the injury he had a fallout with Curbishley and still wants a move to another PL club

Trevor Francis almost signed him for Blues before the Addicks beat us to him

We made a bid of 1 million in the summer which Charlton ridiculed as derisory....fee now would be around 2 and a half to 3 million

Can't believe some of the comments on here...I know it'a all about opinion but I don't think some posters on here ever actually watch football,do they ??? wtf**

Frankly I don't think the choice of Striker is too important, mainly because of these reasons:

1. Brucie doesn't know how to use Strikers or get them to function to their best. Let's face it, he spent his playing career stopping goals!

2. Our greatest weakness now is in defence and midfield. The Back Four is a mess, and Brucie can't get the right combination in the centre of midfield. We need someone to take control, and obviously Butt is well past it. Carter would have done a much better job, and surely most of us knew that.

3. With his past record of Strikers have we the confidence to believe he can get it right this month? Consider this: selling Horse and AJ, buying Morrison, Pandiani, Forse. The only one he really got right was Heskey, and he doesn't know how to get the Team to play with him.

This is NOT a Brucie out post. What's the point, we can't afford to pay him off, get someone else in (who?) and then give him enough to strengthen. No, we're stuck with SB. I just hope, if he isn't able to save us from relegation, then his Championship skill will hold out next season.

I take this rumour with a huge pinch of salt.

fansfc have just recycled the rumour from the summer when we confirmed our interest in him, before he dislocated his shoulder.

I would we get a better player than Euell.

Somehow I doubt that, even if 15m was available, Robbie keane would come to play 'ugly football' and revieve most of his passes from Upson and Cunningham.

bEsides, he would probably be played at left back or on his own up front.
