Ladies and gentlemen, the supporters of birmingham city. you know i dont usually post on this board, but after reading some of the discussions i felt compelled to comment, and to put out this plea. i want you all to forget this season, forget last season, clear your mind. i want you to think back, to a time when we were in the depths, and think about what it was that made you go to birmingham city games. it wasnt to see the other teams great players, hell it wasnt to see our own, it wasnt to get into europe or taste glory. it was the simple pleasure of going to the blues, being one with the thousands of other foolhardy people who couldve chosen a better team to support but sod it, we were going to have fun and we were going to support our boys till the bitter end. we didnt leave early, we didnt expect a spectacle of free flowing entertainment. we went because it was in our blood and in our hearts. it was a spirit that engulfed players who played for us, they were one with us, in latter years you could see in the likes of grainger, purse, devlin, horsfield, they knew what it was to be a birmingham supporter, many of them had stood with us at games when injured or suspended. it was that spirit that took thousands of us to barnsley when we already knew we were out of the play offs, but that night we partied and we sang and we were blue. when we went up that spirit came with us, and when the chips were down the players out on the pitch dragged up every last effort for themselves and us because we filled the stadia and rocked it with noise till the very end, and in those games we fought back, rival managers said they hated coming and people feared us because we didnt fear them. we were happy to be there and we were going to fight for everything. at some point all that changed, suddenly we were supposed to be up challenging, we were supposed to be among the big boys and if we didnt win well its a disgrace, now we hear of calls to sack the manager, some person on this site even sid he'd done nothing in three years. well you know what, if we go down, which i still dont think we will, ill thank steve bruce for these 4 years, ill thank every player who pulled on the shirt, and whilst many may leave, and the manager may go, ill still be in my seat, and ill still be shouting the same encouragement as i do week in week out. because i dont support a european chasing team, i dont support a premiership team or championship or beazer homes league team, i support birmingham city fc, i support the boys in royal blue(or whatever shade karren chooses each season) somewhere along the line too many forgot all this, and they may say im holding the club back, but you cant go forward without knowing who you are and where you've been. i call on every birmingham city fan to send a message, to fill st andrews for that replay, and show the nation that we are not part time fans, that we do not desert our club when it needs us, and that we are not too big to bother with the smaller teams, that we havent forgotten where we came from and what it took to get here, and that we will not go quietly, we will not go without a fight, we will not go moaning and backstabbing as many other clubs have gone before us. because there is something different and special about every true supporter of birmingham city, and whilst we may not like the football being played or the player wearing the shirt, we will always support our club till the bitter end, if we had gone down that first season that is how we would have been remembered, now we must make it so again. make these new players know what it is to be a bluenose, make them come over and engage with us, chat to us, clap us at the end of games win or lose. let them know they are at a special club. thankyou for reading long live the revolution, long live the BLF che |

great post, i support those sentiments. but prepare to be slaughtered on this forum as it doesnt reflect the mood amongst those feeling unrest. there are reasons why people feel as you do che, but there are also reasons why people feel disgruntled and many of those reasons have been set out before us on here. so in summary, nice try doomed to abject failure :( |

Great Propaganda But to be honest I'd like to see BCFC finally bury the mantle of being 'Under Achiever' and start to win EVERYTHING out there If the likes of Blackburn and Notts Forest could do it then so could we And remember prior to the 1960's... Liverpool,Chelsea and Leeds (3 of England's biggest clubs) had hardly won anything between them BlueNose .....from the cradle to the grave |

I too wish we could win everything out there.....but guess what? I think the fans can help that become achievable by singing their hearts out every game. I'll admit that I am one of the people who has said I believe Bruce should go but it looks as though that isn't going to happen so I agree with Che Optimiste ( are you french or what?) and I'd love us to go back to the atmosphere we had when we were in the second and third division and in our first 2 years in the premiership. It just isn't there anymore and I think the more we get behind the team the better they will respond. They will want to play for us. So lets stop the booing and support our team!!! **thumbup |

Thats how i felt for 45 years, but this season and a lot of last season i have felt very badly let down, even cheated and robbed at times, mainly because some of the players at this wonderful club do not give a she hite about it or the fans, thats just my personal opinion and that of my brothers and mates who go with me to games. I have always backed the players as we all have, even though some were truly crap(aka pre TF days) but they did try and none of us can ask more than that, but alas some at this club over the last couple of seasons have been journey men and only worried where their next 30+ grand a week will come from, and that for me is killing the it :( great post though Che, its even started to get my passion up and running again  |

Great post che. We all still have the passion for this club inside of us but with each dreadful performance, each bizarre team selection/substitution it gets pushed further and further down. With our promotion and second season success came a level of expectation. The owners, the manager and the players have added to that expectation with their continued statements about Europe and the best squad we have ever had. They are the ones who have failed to live up to their own hype. We all want the best for this club but we all have different ideas of how that should be achieved, yet when we are in the ground we are united in support for the team. **thumbup |

Very good post and your are right, you can't forget who you are, but you also have to look to the future. You need to be ambitious, not masquerade as it. Maybe the you posted it in the wrong place tho. Perhaps the dressing room would have been more suitable. |

Things were LAREADY oging wrong - we had a por start to that season. IMO things went wrong when; * Dugs stopped playing, stifling the only real creativity we had. * Bruce made Robbie Savage the fulcrum of our team, when he should have been building a team around Dunny and Forse. * Bruce decided to take too many risks on players like Forse staying fit and then panicking and buying the likes of Yorke, Diao etc. to solve the problem. * Bruce lost his 'balls' when it came to transfers - he kept us up by being brave and signing 'risky' players such as Dugs, Sav, Upson, Forse etc. For some reason, as time went on he retreated into shelling out for the Yorke's, Anderton's, Butt's and was looking at people like jason Euell. I think one thing led to another and as results worsened, Bruce became more and more negative until he became trapped in the vicious spiral we are now in. |

thankyou for the positive comments, for those who dont know me no im not david sullivan, or attributed to the club in any way. for anyone who has been on Keeprighton i was the optimist, later to be renamed che optimiste founder of the revolution and the bluenose liberation front. some people seem to have mistaken my words for accepting we will never be anything. that is not what i am saying at all. we all want success for this football club, we all want to win, but that should not blind us from the very reasons we became bluenoses in the first place. it saddens me that none can give torquay their due, when it wasnt so long ago we were in a similar position, football is a game of fine lines, we had one season of narrow victories thanks to the fors goals, look at all the teams in the prem and there is not much difference betwen them. but there can be a massive difference in the stands, everton have survived numerous times thanks to a passionate gladys street end. we need the roar back at st andrews, we need to let people know that we are not fair weather supporters, that we will be there through the success and the failure. i call on steve bruce to lead his team to the fans every game. and i call on all of you to harness your ambitions, and recognise that in the league we play, every single season, our first thought must be survival, then and only then can you push up the league. we are battlers, and when the team comes out with the clemences and johnsons and even the tebilys i smile because they are battlers too, and they give their all, sure tebs isnt the best, but he never shirks the challenge and when you see him celebrate you see how much it means to him. Long Live the BLF!!!!! |

Brilliant post Che. I am with you all the way. Remember that huge swing fist of Gary Pendrey towards the Tilton/Kop before each game. Never any doubt he was up for every game and so were the Bluenoses. KRO! |

The worst or near footballer we ever had! The greatest hero we ever had,if he lost a leg when the winger went past him he would throw it after him!!! He always reminded me of the torso in the monty python film that was trying to nut the bloke with the sword after his arms and legs had been chooped off.......That was my birmingham city FC...never give up or less than 100%whether TF or GP |

Che , As St andys has said previously the difference this season is with every bizzarre sub/ tactic Mr Bruce produces i get a little more disheartened. In all my time of supporting Blues there have been totally inept performances , totally inept footballers and totally inept characters at the helm. However , give me any answers to why the players we have now are in this predicament , after all we have been sold a dream of having the best team ever ( yeah ok  ). To play at the highest level is a privellege yet some players look like they couldn't give a stuff, you see as you may remember players like Pendry, Ashley, Frain ,Clarkson would run through a brick wall for us , there is not one ounce of real passion in our team now, why?. No Passion from the team manifests itself onto the terraces thats why it is so quiet now. You see, we were more together in the past because the teams would battle and never lay down, coming back against man city right at the death a few years back priceless players like o'connor daish , johnson, through to horsfield and savage our teams have been built on fighters and scrappers, this is what we have been brought up onthats why supporters had real spirit, i'm sorry but i miss those days and those players :( |
