A man walks into a restaurant and orders squid. "Certainly, sir," said the waiter, "would you care to select a live one from the tank?" So the man walks up to the tank and chances upon a lovely little green squid with a moustache sitting in the corner looking very placid. "I'll take that one," he said. So the waiter fishes out the squid, and prepares to kill it. But he can't, it's too lovely and green with a charming little moustache on his upper lip. The waiter asks the manager to kill the squid instead, but he too cannot bring himself to kill such a lovely, placid green squid. The waiter goes into the kitchen, and, as luck would have it, the dishwasher, a burly German called Hans, is there. "Could you kill this lovely green squid for me?", asks the waiter. "Certainly," replied Hans, and, taking the hammer, he kills the squid with one strike. "How did you do that, Hans?" asked the befuddled waiter. "It's easy," said Hans, "for Hans that do dishes won't go soft on the face of mild green hairy-lip squid." |
