my love has been rekindled after watching 24 hour party people and then "buying" the greatest hits

how cool and modern do they sound for their time?

No you're not!!!!

If you can find them - download the John Peel Sessions Joy Division did. It's ironic how Ian Curtis's depression bought so much musical pleasure to so many people

if you ever get chance read Touching from a Distance, book about Ian Curtis, his life, his loves, ....it's a brilliant read, i went to see them in March 1979, although i didn't go to see them...i went to see the Cure but came away thinking the support band were better.

i was there when they played there last gig with Ian at Birmingham Uni, it was truly awesome. not many people know but Ian suffered from epileptic fits and it was possibily the drugs (depression) that he took that led to him eventually taking his own life... very sad. i was gutted when i heard.

i recommend the book to anyone who is inspired by Biographies. **thumbup

24hr Party People is not 100% factual. I don't know about that particular incident though

I know ;) but have seen an interview about the incident and they all agreed that they were naive in their choice of band names as they thought it was ironic, but obs it back fired and they ended up scrapping some skin heads ;)

Agreed. It's one of those things they've never been able to shake off.
