i've just got home 20minutes ago from town, I am not a racist I have asian and black friends, but two asian cab drivers, wanted 25£ - 30£ for 2 stops at kings norton and bournville????? So we said no obviously, the next cabby to drive past was a white male, we told him where we were off to etc etc and he came up with 15£ which we took, nice guy he was aswell. What do you people think of this? Is this racist, or just pure greed? |

i just got home from town too  Barracuda was pretty crap tonight though, flippin' long queue. and when we got in their my mates werent even up for gettin' jiggy <_< anyways, i see it as pure greed. obviously they have a family to care for but most will try to take advantage. i just catch the night bus (£3) from the cathedral and walk 15m home. in my experiences the Asian cab drivers are more rogue and unprofessional compared to the white cab drivers (i'm black btw). it must be socio-economic status IMO. |

i dont usually get involved in these debates , but on the taxi driver issue, why bring it up on here, why not take their numbers and take it up with the relevant people, seems the right thing to do,otherwise the next customer will suffer, apologies if yo have, but lots of people just moan about things and do nothing , action s speak louder than words. PS, I'm always wary of the statement,I'm not racist, but. |

@ mr pengiun I just wanted to make the point that there are no easy answers. 1 i never created the difficult questions and was not allowed to voice my opinion for thirty years for fear of been branded a racist. In one of your earlier posts you were adamant that all governments had failed to see the issues or to take effective action. 2 thats always been the case on certain issues imo When I asked you what you would actually do, as I recall, you came up with troops out of Iraq and a couple of referenda - which if I understand, would not really address the central issue of how an ethnically and religiously diverse population should co-exist. 3 i lived next door to 30 or more muslim males of all ages if you take the time to read all my posts in one of the poorest areas in birmingham you cannot co-exist anymore than that, about the war ,"i was against this illegal war from the start not only for the loss of life it would cause but because of the tensions that would arise here with such a large muslim community" infidels on holy ground.... koran. A very straightforward question - what would the question be for your referendum on immigration - has taken you days to think about. 4 i have had years to think about it, intergration was the key pc word in the old days and later changed to cultral diversity, without all the true FACTS of the situation which i should assume the three main partys have how can i possibly anwser a question of such magnitude?. Many of the far right groups - eg. bnp, nf - are able to provide emotional rhetoric, but unable to translate it into credible policies. Once you get past the emotional stuff you see that there are no ideas really. 5 the bnp do have some credible policies no matter how distastful you and me find them to be, the problem been that the three main partys have always treated the working class people as mindless morons because of there superior university educations, media silence, propoganda, in times of past wars for example, believe it or not nick griffin cannot afford to tell lies... not one pearson has thought that this piece of dung with a hidden camera could be a double agent and the fact that nick griffin mentioned an elderly asians murder by a racist white guy and what should be done as punishment recieved raptrous applause. this was overlooked by the media and cocroaches, strutting, evil asians, was the best that they could come up with to justify a case that cost the tax payer a fortune, if this goverment would allow the press to report ALL racist murders etc,and take the same action against all british citizens that commit hate crimes, nobody would believe anything the bnp said, instead they get the police to escort an illegal protest etc etc which means many many more bnp votes, i said on the first racist debate i think the bnp will be a force in british politics not because i want them to be but because they offer the only alternative for a very worried public. 6 The only policies that really make the country better for our kids are based on tolerance, inclusivity and respect. There are no easy answers. It's difficult because it's difficult. i agree, but i was not allowed to ask the hard questions for years, so i assume that the people like trevor phillips whose favourite word used to be (intergrate) and favourite two words ( race relations) who now has a new two words(community relations) funny how quite he has been lately?, would be better suited to anwser difficult questions. the piece i never posted was ten times longer than this and did anwser your question but i realised without the TRUE facts it was not worth posting. |

private hire vehicles should have a price list available to show you if it is not on show in the vehicle, a good ploy would be to ask them (how much is the first mile) as people dont realise the first mile is more, lets say £2 50p the first mile and £1 a mile there after, so at that rate a journey of 10 miles= £11 50p.... never jump into a private hire vehicle unless you have booked it ( because you and your friends will not be insured)... a standard private hire ploy would be to have the office put a booking in the name of lets say smith destination various pull up in town when its busy shout smith "its suprising how many people are called smith on a cold and wet night lol". if you request them to stop it can be anything from 20p a minute upto 50p a minute, i never charged anything for the first 5 minutes, if the driver is playing rock and roll music or asian music you can tell him to turn it off for the duration of your journey. do not confuse black cabs with private hire vehicles although a black cab driver should realy know were he is going but the standards have dropped. private hire vehicles work on distance ie if your journey takes 15 min or 1 hour the charge should be the same unless you requested them to stop. i nearly forgot.. a bit of a row erupted before i left the trade about private hire drivers pulling up and allowing people to book there ride via the drivers mobile phone, as the black cab drivers said it was still plying for hire or pirating, if your ride is not properly booked YOU WILL NOT BE INSURED. black cabs work on time and distance so the meter will go when you are stopped at lights or traffic jams. double or triple fare can be charged in realy bad weather snow drifts etc but you should be informed upon booking your taxi there are no extra charges after 12 midnight in private hire vehicles at least not when i done the job. private hire offices have to work to set guidlines as laid down by which ever council has licenced them in regard to fares and safety of the public. a solihull or any other private hire vehicle not licenced in birmingham should not pick you up in birmingham unless its a booked return from there areas, so much for europeon law a licenced vehicle should be able to pick up anybody anywhere in the uk as long as its booked. one of the many reasons for overcharging are that birmingham city council are greedy and have not restricted the amount of drivers, european law is only applied when it takes money from us, the fare structure should be the same across the country for a private hire vehicle. |

Racism is a subject that I dont realy like talking about as it gets me annoyed. However i will share it on here. If I offened anyone then I apologise. Let me start with this cartoon IMO I feel that muslims need to grow up am sorry but for this cartoon to cause millions of people fuming and bulidngs being burned is going a bit over the top. I mean how many times do we see Christians get offended with films like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Mel Gibson's film Passion Of Christ. Another issue issue his about racial assaults. I go to Churchdown School in Gloucester where ive only really seen about 10 blacks and asians put together! Anyway a friend of myne in the 6th Form block called Sam was badly beaten up back in October by 15 Black youths. Story from This Is Gloucestershire Details of Operation I was just wondering what would of happened if the roles were reversed if Sam was black and he was beating up by 15 white youths. Wouldnt you see it splased across the front pages of a national newspaper? Luckilky hes put it behind him and has done well at school hes just come back from his media trip to Paris where i ribbed the **** out of him about the Liverpool & Birmingham game **thumbup as hes a mad Liverpool fan who watches them about 10 times a season. Hes a great friend that ive known since year 7 at the start of 2000 but i have only recently got to know him more since we moved into the 6th form last September. He could of easily died from this and am glad that wasnt the case. Another thing that makes me tick off is people like Abu Hamza who claims he wants to this and that to GB & USA and take over America etc lol and yet there are police there who do nothing and yet we suffer on July 7th when it could of been stopped,. Though when someone like Nick Griffin or Terry Blackham say something about Muslims in public what happens they get court hearings and custodial sentacing its a joke it really is! wtf** One more I like to add is that some people that say that Islam is a peaceful religion let me ask you this how many white people were involved in the riots in Birmingham, or France? Who were behind 9/11 and 7/7 I just hope that I havnt offened anyone as I know plenty of Muslims and Afro Carribeans as me and my dad used to live in Handsworth. So I apologise if I have offended anyone Keep Right On! |

In light of what is happening in our cities, our country and around the world, over the cartoons depicting Mohammed PBUH  as a terrorist, can anyone condone the marches and threats to ourselves ??. I like to think of myself as a relatively balanced individual, but can it be right in this day and age to walk through the streets with placards such as ' europe will come crawling when the Mujahdeen get roaring' and 'Europe your 9/11 is coming. I am sorry it smacks of hypocrisy in a week when new religious hate laws were trying to be forced through , a sizeable demo can walk the streets with pure evil and intolerance in mind wtf** . Tubs please explain how this can happen you are obviously the Oracle  on such subjects as this cause you work with a few muslims, you harp on about minorities look at the bigger picture, worldwide marches , threats , cartoons of jewish people with swastikas on their personage in arab newspapers...you call that tolerance?????. I am fast losing my tolerance of these idiots who think it right to walk the streets proclaiming 'death to infidels etc etc, how do they think the world views them and islam do they care??????, i am seriously starting to doubt it, it sickens me to the pit of my stomach . Oh how the BNP must have been wringing their hands this weekend , how many more recruits to their 'brand' of ideology must they have recruited, seeing that scum , while recieving a police escort. Maybe i am over reacting but i fail to understand why our tolerance is continually thrown back in our faces  |

i agree to a point but it was more than a handful of extremists and worldwide it paints a bleak picture, and also bear in mind my mini rant was not against the majority but against what i have had to view with my own eyes, that is sick, and your statement that it was a few does not wash with me as i feel at the moment more agree with the idiots on the streets. Also remember ONE papers view does not represent the majority of westerners, as those fools have conveniently forgotten about, there is no excuse |

Christians (and i don't just mean White folks) have also done many, MANY bad things also though Paul, Christians forcing Islam out of Spain, the 2 world wars, colonisation and forcing poeple to convert and so on the only truly laid back religions i can think of are hindu and buddhism, where it is ALL about living peacefully |

I'm bloody angry at our police force/government. It was common sense and an enforcement of the law to arrest anyone in that protest who was making murderous threats towards the people of this country. There's not one law-abiding citizen, muslim, christian, agnostic, catholic, atheist, buddhist, whatever who would argue against them being arrested and charged for what they threatened to do. By pussyfooting around these extremists in the attempt to try and avoid upsetting the muslim community, the police and government have made a mistake that all of us are united against, muslims included. and how Jack Straw can make out that these newspapers/cartoonists were being irresponsible and disrespectful when he himself had a direct hand in bringing about the war in Iraq, killing thousands of muslims in the process, well I just don't know how he dare show his ******* face, let alone speak as an authority on the subject. ******* hypocrite! |
