You could also try restoring the registry first:

Boot while holding the CTRL (or F8) key to enter the boot menu.

Select the COMMAND PROMPT ONLY option and press enter.

From the C:\> prompt, type SCANREG /RESTORE and press enter.

When the restore screen appears, select a backup dated before this problem
occurred and then restart the system. (A properly working registry has the
word 'Started' next to the date)

Have you recently installed hardware or software ?
Did your pc's screen turn blue before this happened the first time?

If you have installed new hardware or software, there maybe a conflict.

Remove hardware. When your pc gives you the options you mentioned, select 'start windows in safe mode' and then use control panel to uninstall the software. Reboot machine and select 'start windows normally.

If you can not think of any reason why this may of happend, you might be best to take it to a professional to take a look at it for you.

LMAO at Chav mode    thats the best joke i've heard this week ;)

press F8 when you turn your pc on....you should see a selection, go to 'Safe Mode' and see if it reboots. hopefully it does. once it has you can try a simple restart...and see if it reboots. If it doesn't .....reboot into safe mode again, but this time try a system restore. like someone suggested.... of course this all depends if you are running from XP??

Bloo **thumbup

ps before you do try safe mode...unplug your Modem if it's a separate.

also if you do get into it......if it reboots, do a virus scan immediately.... do not switch it off till you have done this.

let us know how you get on.

what is exactly happening from the moment you turn on? sounds like you might need to try a windows repair, at least to get your stuff back, then you can do a full re-install. providing of course you have the proper discs ;)

put your windows disc's in and then boot up, providing your bios is set to boot from your cdr/dvd drive then you will be able to scoot through to a windows repair.

by the way if you need to change your bios so that is boots from the CDR/DVD drive, give me a shout. do not go into bios and start tinkering if you haven't been there before :D

if you already know how to do it..then fair enough, if you do change it, make sure you change it back after you've got your machine working.
