This one just dumfounds me again.

Clemence hasn't been able to get a look in for weeks. I presumed Bruce no longer rated him or thought he was one of the ones that weren't up for it (one of the dozen or so??). He has hardly played any first team football.

Neil Kilkenny is warming the Bench week in week out but has looked great when he has come on. He hasn't moaned, he has sat there waiting for his chance to start. Well his chance came tonight, but what does Bruce do? Bring Clemence in from no-where and Kilkenny warms the bench until we are 46 goals down.

I just don't understand it. I think it is another clear sign that he has played all two of his cards. Seeing tebily come into the team again so early in the game (though own goal apart - at least he looked like an athlete) jsut makes me think that Bruce is just like "well ok I tried him and that didnt work...your turn again Clemence" - its like the old last roll of the dice thing. I just dont understand his reluctance to play Kilkenny.

OK the point of my post wasn't so much that Clemence is awful and Kilkenny is god, it was more just pointing out how I don't understand how Bruce's mind works. One second Clemence isn't good enough to get in the squad the next he walks straight into the starting line up whilst players like Kilkenny who have been consistently good when they have played cant seem to get a break.

What is DJ then, oh a defensive midfield player, what about Clapham, a defensive midfield palyer, i know what we need Clemence another defensive midfield player.

Clueless Bruce strikes again and at least you are here to support him.

Funny thing is with all these defensive midfield players we still get done 7.

You couldnt make it up.

GO NOW PLEASE, YOU SAID WHEN THE FANS ARE AGAINST YOU THAT YOU WOULD GO, BELEIVE ME THE FANS ARE AGAINST YOU, GO!!!!

Sorry to shout.

Fishblues you are absoluelty SPOT ON

I watched the game LIVE and as soon as I saw the team I knew we would be out of the Cup .....it was only a matter of time and sure enough we were 3 down at HT and looking CLUELESS

Where was Latka ???....was he injured ??

Martin Taylor was so cr@p tonight it was too painful to watch

And Mr Inept with the Crooked Nose puts in Clapham,Melchiot and Clemence in the starting line up and leaves Lazaridis and Kilkenny on the bench....TWO of our most attack minded players

And just to take the 'michael' SB throws on Oliver Terrible who didn't let us down with a finely taken slice of the 6 yard line and put the ball in his own net with such aplomb that kid in an Under 7 side would have been proud of

Thanks Mr Bruce.....your acute football tactical knowledge again made us look a laughing stock for the world to see............PLEASE GO

How many times this season have we stressed that 2 defensive midfielders means we conceed the ball to the opposition far too easily and puts undue pressure on our poor defense.

The lineup resembled the Boro debacle, Blackburn away, shall i go on.

Why not leave Clapham at leftback. Where was Stan for leftwing?

Why not, start Kilkenny & DJ, or Kilkenny & Clem, putting DJ leftwing. Hes played there before?

We need to keep the ball, a leftback on left wing, 2 defensive midfielders and a rightwinger, who's not fed the ball, won't win us anything. Especially when the defence does not turn up. - namely Mario & Timid Tiny - maybe your called Tiny due to the size of your balls.

Fair play to Clapham, Clem & Dj, they huffed and puffed, but they'll never pass there way out of anything. Kilkenny could have made us tick over and everyone would have looked less nervous.

But that is the choice of the manager. tomatoes

kilkenny has no experience,to through him against gerrard is a worse decision.Dont see why bruce didnt go

-------------jonty--------clem

pennant-------kilkenny--------dunn

Than there would have been at least 3 players running all night.

We drew with Liverpool earlier on this season 2-2 with a central midfield of Kilkenny & DJ. Why not again. They caused Pool problems then, and could of last night.

Clem is a decent player in my book, but he is never given a proper run in the team. He'll probably be dropped again on Sunday & then be recalled for one game in a months time.

I thought that he did ok last night given his lack of match practise, the fact that he was up against Gerrard & Alonso and the general shambles that was all around him.

You are right but that is not the point.

It should have been DJ and Kilkenny OR Clem and Kilkenny in the middle.

Bruce won't play Kilkenny because 'he needs to work on the defensive side of his game'. Typical Bruce garbage. He won't let him play until he has knocked every ounce of creativity out of him.

Bruce just doesn't see the value of a playmaker in the middle of the team. And then moans about not scoring goals - idiot.

Butt ahead of anyone is the worse selection. Clemence cares abiut the club. He gives his all. He signed a new contract last year. Give him a break. Mario did well on the fist goal - geat hoofed clearance into our on box again, really relieved the ptressure b4 dunn fouled and gerrard stuck it in the box - drop him!

At least Clem and DJ get stuck in not like those that are on loan takin the p155 and screwing the club with over inflated wages for not even playing.Clem loves the club and he wont be one of the ones walking or putting a transfer request in at the end of the season.
