In the League Boro have since... Played 8 Won 4 Lost 4 In the cold light of day I'm trying to be optimistic!! 12pts would probably be close to keeping us up. Bolton (H) 3pts Wigan (A) 3pts Villa (A) 3pts Blackburn (H) Everton (A) Newcastle (H) Bolton (A) 3 Pts Lets hope last night is the wake up call we have all been craving. Oh yeah. Then sack Bruce and move the club forward. |

I admire your optimism Tim but at the present time I dont share it. Give me a couple of days and i may be able to look at things more objectively. I just can't see us getting anywhere near enough to survive. Theres only 2 ways last nights result will swing things and I fear the opposite effect to you at the moment :( |

tim i get what you're saying but i remember reading posts like this in October! the fact is that the team look less like a winning team than they did back then. there is no penetration, a lack of ideas and basically i agree with the majority of pundits who say we'll be lucky to win a game. you're right 12pts might be good enough but too far out of reach with the team as they stand. my hope is that a new man will bring self-beleif back to some of our players and we fight our way out. |

What's been said has been said, (I'm not saying you are) but there is no more need for the 'I told you so' quotes. OK, people wanted changes 5 months ago, they didn't happen, move on, deal with the here and the now. We're all feeling it. And I have not seen anything of late to encourage me either. But I just want to point out it's not a forgone conclusion. Bruce will be here for the rest of the season (deal with that if you agree or not) and we have to look at the next 9 games and hope. My point of the Boro 7 nil is that I don't think it can get any worse. Losing to 0-2 to Spurs would not of been a great shock to the players and I'm sure it hardly affected any of them. I just hope last night did. As littleboy blue said - this could go one of 2 ways. We as fans seem to of accepted our fate, but the 'British' spirit was there last night (in the stands that is) - people had to laugh or cry. A lot hung around and laughed. KRO |

Someone made the point about Arsenal doing it to Everton too. But the fact of the matter is Liverpool are can't even touch Arsenal when it comes to attacking play. Liverpool haven't got any world class forwards for a start. The fact is they are average going forward and yet we managed to conceed 7 - there's no hope in that. |

Yep 15 goals in 3 games is distinctly average  Luckily we don't have to play them every week. :D I know what your saying ATL - but is anyone as good as Arsenal going forward? and do they do it every week? No. Last night was a freak result. I'm resigned to getting nothing from Man Yoo and Chelsea, but can you say we will get nothing from Bolton, Wigan, Everton, Newcastle, Villa and Blackburn? Maybe I'll get called deluded, but I live in hope. Bruce still has to go at the end of the season by the way. My hopes are for the club and my entertainment for next year - hopefully Bruce will not be part of it. |

ok, let's look at the other side of the argument then. so the 7-0 drubbing, by a Liverpool team who are on a good run at the moment, might just wake us from our slumber like it did Middlesborough. but we do not play cohesive football like Middlesborough do. we do not have clinical strikers like Middlesborough do. we do not have players playing in their natural positions like Middlesborough do - get my drift? and if the Pompey win was a shock to them too, what about when Bruce said that the 5-1 win would spur us on to greater success. i'm yet to see it. it's not about doom and gloom, it's about realism. you're right, we could get something from the Blackburn, Vile, Wigan and Newcastle games - but we're showing no signs of improvement to suggest that will happen. it's a difficult scenario. i want Blues to stay up, i think it's critical in the future of this club for us to do so - relegation would be such a terrible thing. but if we stay up then Bruce will stay for sure, and everyone who is pro-Bruce will say "told you so". but it's not about telling us so, we have serious issues at this football club, from training to selection and staying up will just paper over them issues. |

What bothers me is that Liverpool may have hit a good scoring run but in truth their forwards are not a patch on Rooney, Saha, Giggs , Ronaldo & Van Nistlerooy. Now on Sunday our shell shocked side have to face them (unless ferguson feels sorry for his ex-captain) in a packed Old Trafford full of Essex boys and girls. I dread to think what will happen if Man U score in the first 10 minutes. We might even think 7 was a let off. |
