Tbh, I agree with some of the points gnrcoma makes. Birmingham is the 2nd biggest city in England, it carries the city's name. So why is it we have and will accept 2nd best?? It seems that us (most fans) say they can accept defeat as long as there is no lack of effort and desire, but when is this going to change? I am someone who has said before that I can accept a loss as a Blues fan, but would like the players to wear the shirt with pride, but it's about time in our long history there is a combination of both. This season, I don't blame the board, I don't blame the players, I don't blame the manager and backroom staff..................I blame all of them. The board have tried to do things on the cheap, the players are old, past it, clueless, heartless, lazy and money grabbing scum bags who are an embaressement to this club, the manager and his staff are clearly inept, making bad decision after bad decision, god knows what is said in the changing room and on the training pitch. Modern day football has gone downhill. From footballers to fans, agenst and the board, the whole industry is now just a screw job asto who can earn the most money. There is no pride in playing for a club, there is no pride in being the best you can, there is no pride in making fans proud, everything is about money money money f ucking money, there are, of course, exceptions. I agree with a lot of what David Sullivan says, about players. Football is nothing compared t what it was a few decades back, and I don't like all of thic change! I've said it before, the rel football people are in the lower and non-leagues. |

If we're being serious... 1. I think that their investment over the years has been motivated by self-interest rather than anything else. They are businessmen who saw that football was becoming big business and saw an opportunity to buy a (potentially) big club on the cheap. A bit like buying a wrecked old house & then doing it up to make a profit. From a fans point of view that is much better than having owners who won't / can't invest at all & I think most people would agree that the club is in a better position than when they took over. 2. I think that their emotional commitment to Blues has grown over the years. They are still businessmen, but they put a lot of personal effort into the club that they could easily delegate. I try to put myself in their shoes. Say I had bought West Ham as an investment. I'm not a West Ham fan & I'm b*ggered if I'd travel up and down the motorway to watch all their games. If I had their money I'd been on a caribbean island with half a dozen page 3 girls relying on my business manager to deliver the profits for me. What I'm trying to say is that they could have achieved whatever business objectives they have without investing a tenth of the personal time & effort that they put in. 3. They are unwilling to invest a significant chunk of their personal wealth into taking Blues to the next level : football in the post-Ambrovich era can be an unlimited drain on resources & as we have both said, they are not blues fans (maybe a mad bluenose billionaire would spend his fortune on the blues - i would anyway, but i wouldn't spend it on west ham). They manage blues as a self-sufficient business :- not hugely profitable but not losing money either. The positive is that we still have a viable solvent club if & when they walk away. So overall, I think that our connection with DS/DG has been good for the blues, I think that they are better guys than their critics give them credit for & I can understand that they won't throw their personal fortunes into taking the club forward. A billionaire who wants to spend his fortune on Blues as a hobby would be great, but I'm not aware that such a person wants to buy us. Every set of fans moan about their owners/board. Imo, we have less to complain about than most. |
