given the pressure you are under...and the slating you get from many on this site and the press etc i really admire your dignity..
IF you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, ' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch, if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

In all honesty, very touching...
I remember that being used on Mike Basset: england manager, when he was in a similar situation as bruce. And If i remeber correctly he went on to then start a winning streak...ah that's where the similarities end then!

Times like these where a song like this should be played in the dressing room before the games:
To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest To follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far
To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march into Hell For a heavenly cause
And I know if I'll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm When I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star
If that couldn't get the players motivated, nothing could.

Try reminding Steve about this, when you send him Kipling's poem, about being true and honest:
- Quote:
-
BBC Steve Bruce is planning to take legal action against Huddersfield Town chairman Barry Rubery after being accused of "wasting" £3m, report BBC Radio Leeds. Rubery was critical of his former manager in his programme notes for Saturday's home match against Norwich. He claimed that he had made a mistake by "believing that a great footballer would make a great football manager". Rubery also accused Bruce of "wasting" £3m on players, arguing that the money would have been "spent more wisely by a more experienced manager without an ego to feed". In a statement read out on his behalf, Bruce described Rubery's comments as "an astonishing personal attack", and added that he refuted the accusations. Bruce has said he would not allow someone who had been in football for less than two years ruin his reputation which he had built up over 25 years. Bruce was sacked as Huddersfield manager in October last year after a poor start to the season that saw Town lying second from bottom in Division One.
Of course no legal action came, did it?
If you can dream - and not make Dreams your Master:
- Quote:
-
Wigan chairman David Whelan is upset at Steve Bruce's decision to quit Wigan in favour of Crystal Palace.
Bruce left the JJB Stadium having been in charge for less than two months. He told Whelan and vice-chairman Duncan Sharpe at a meeting on Tuesday that he was leaving for a post at a First Division club.
Whelan said: "He has decided that Palace have got the potential. "They are in a division higher and he has decided that it is a step forward in his career." Whelan had hoped to persuade Bruce to stay on at Wigan after he joined the club on a short term deal in succession to Bruce Rioch. Whelan said: "He told me that he had thought about the move for over a week, and it was an offer he could not refuse. "We didn't even have the chance to offer him a package with Wigan Athletic." "I was going to offer him the same deal I offered Bruce Rioch, which was a very good deal, but I think he's made his mind up to go down to London. "I was very surprised at Steve's decision and I was surprised that he didn't listen to our offer because I had had some very positive meetings with him before he went on holiday. "I knew that other clubs would approach him because the market is like that. "I'm surprised because he's had a brilliant relationship with everyone - from myself and the board to the players and fans, who will be very disappointed at his decision. "But how can you persuade someone to stay who doesn't want to? "I was going to offer him a two to three-year contract but obviously he's made his mind up to go to pastures new." Bruce was sacked as Huddersfield manager after securing just one win in the first 11 matches of last season. He had hoped to secure promotion via the Play-Offs for Wigan, but they were beaten by Reading in the two-legged semi-finals
I Don't think Steve would understand, anyway. Theres no praise or money for himself in the words of the poem, is there?
