We won our group last time **thumbup

I noticed The USA were eliminated by Ghana four years ago

Perfect chance for a bit of revenge coming up very soon

What a great day. A full Irish pub full of the Outlaws. We completely packed the place. Tbh our passing and possession was terrible. However, we ground out the result and are going into a game against Portugal with things we can clearly improve :kro: (I wore my blues kit +a USA scarf to the pub today). Ronald isn't 100%, they have a couple of key injuries and a stupid red card from Pepe. Our big injury was Altidoredare. I think we can get 2ndand in the group

Happy Birthday, CB

Excellent performance by the USA and were so close to automatically qualifying

Need a draw against Germany now while Ghana and Portugal need fairly hefty swings in GD to have any chance, Ronaldo's lot especially ........Jurgen Klinsmann must be loving every minute , that's a game I'm looking forward to

Wonder if the Yanks could face Iran in a later stage.......Hmmmm !!!

Nice to see Grant Park up in the Windy City packed out and huge fan zones in New York City and Kansas City absolutely rocking

Saw a nice clip of the United States fighting forces in Afghanistan celebrating the match and goals too

Fair play to these brave guys :applause: :applause: .......Defending the freedom all of us take for granted in the Western world and fighting Muslim/Taliban cowards who hide and duck

GOD BLESS THE USA and IN GOD WE TRUST

Yesterday the Americans showed their naivety and a lack of experience with what I would call "game management". I hate seeing teams shielding the ball in the corner to run out the clock but that's exactly what the USA should have been doing against Portugal when they knew the current score line would have taken them through.

But apart from one brief moment they continued trying to put crosses into the box, playing it around in midfield and constantly giving the ball away as a result of over complicating things. With players of Ronaldo's quality on the pitch that was surely a recipe for disaster and so it proved.

It's going to be hard to pick themselves up from that moment when progress was snatched from them at the death and I would now rate their chances of progression at best 50/50.

I disagree, I thought we were the better team. Better chances and drive than Portugal. Maintaining possession was an issue but it was actually an improvement to our terrible performance in central midfield against Ghana. I think we have a great chance of progressing.

Thanks for the Bday wishes Kyle **thumbup It was great watching the game in Chicago with over 15,000 people in and around Grant Park.
Parti: The atmosphere was phenomenal. It was a loud gathering :applause:

Let's take on the Germans :dancer:

Congrats to the USA for reaching the knockout phases :applause:

Looks like Belgium as the next opponents although there's a very remote chance it could be Algeria depending on results in Group H later

crikey Pooley what planet are you on?

Well it must be one far away

He thinks the US are a terrible dirty team after their epic results against Ghana and Portugal , ironically they played poorly against Ghana and won and played exceptionally well v the Germans and lost

As for thuggish behavior , I think some of the Uruguayans and Ecuadorians and the entire Honduras squad are the dirty ones

There will be more red cards in this Round of 16 because the pressure is really on now as it's knockout and everything is at stake

I bet Howard Webb might even brandish a red card this time around

Pulling people back every time they try to counter attack in a cynical cheating way for starters

They have no pace in the team so combat pace used against then by pulling shirts

Pooley, you've been overdoing it on the steroids again

You got to be on the wind up 'cause you're a well known disliker of all things 'Americana' on here

There's been loads of players from most of the 32 sides that have pulled a shirt or two

In fact one of the few teams I haven't seen do that is England ......we must be regretting it now because had Cahill and Jagielka been alert enough or even quick enough to keep up with 'Dracula Suarez' and pulled him back by the shirt tails then we might just still be in the tournament

I reckon the pair of them didn't want to get bitten

"I believe that we will win"

The USA will have to be at their best though to beat Belgium and The Outlaws (The American soccer fan base) will have to be on top voice

Winners face Argentina .....who I thought were a bit fortunate to beat a very good Swiss side today ......but look who made the goal again just 3 minutes from the end of extra time .......The best player on the planet right now .....Messi

come on belgium!

they have a good team, some of whom are known to us from the prem.

Kompany (one of my fave from the prem, a quality player and a great role model)
Vertonghen (from spurs - quality)
Fellaini (who was disapointing for united but quality for everton and definatley an enigma)
De Bruyne (formally of chelsea and european experience)
Hazard (we know him well from chelsea - either on fire or a ghost in the game depending so hopefully will put in a good shift)

then on the bench there is the chelsea perenial loanee Romelu Lukaku who chelsea seem to love to loan out but undesputed quality as we know from our neighbours wba, Dembélé also from spurs, Vermaelen from the gunners, Mirallas from everton, Januzaj from united and Mignolet as the back up gk

so 11 players all from good prem clubs and players who have played together at club and international level so they have the unity and familiarity.

Already looking strong - much better starting 11 than the yanks and much stronger option from the bench too.

Hopefully the us-of-a will keep their underhand tactics to a minimum to allow a good game of free flowing footie in which belgium should easily have the advantage.

they have a good team, some of whom are known to us from the prem.

Tim Howard of Everton is one of the best keepers in the Prem

Brad Guznan (Vile ) is on the bench and I do believe Michael Bradley was with Villa for a short while, he also played for Roma in Italy

Clint Dempsey (recently of Fulham and Tottenham) is a top drawer striker

Geoff Cameron is with Stoke

Josy Altidore is with Sunderland

Many of their other players play throughout Europe

They're no chumps ....and they almost just took the lead **thumbup

they did, they also did the underhand tactics i talk of when felani tackled jones who, when on the floor, kicked up to trip over felani totally uncaled for and just like what beckham got sent off for those years back

belgium should have gone 1 up then
