wtf**

Why on Earth is this injury prone pensioner being touted as a cert for World Cup selection?

He's played 5 minutes in the last 2 seasons.

IMO Campbell should EARN his place like everyone else.

John Terry and Rio Ferdinand might not be everyone's cup of tea but they deserve their places a lot more than sick note does.

Once again, Sven picks players on reputation rather than merit.

When Sven took over I thought he was going to buck this trend but he's just a sbad as everyone else. The media pick the England squad, that's why we don't win anything with our best players ever.

NO SOL CANPBELL.

the England job is the easiest managerial job int he world IMO. the tabloids demand that you play this formation, that you select these players. the players have already been trained by their clubs. all you have to do is give them some motivation really ;)

Sol Campbell hasn't played at all for ages. His form before being injured was questionable.

IMHO Campbell does NOT deserve a place in the squad at all.

As for Owen, slightly different. Befor ehis current injury he was playing well and scoring goals. His form was good so being picked even though just coming back isn't the same as Campbell being picked.

Campbell is being line dup for a place on his reputation. He was injured for ages, went awol and now has a broken nose. He hasn't played consistently for over 12 months now so should even get a mention let alone a seat on the plane to Germany.

Cambell should be in the squad but not as first choice. Terry and Rio are far superior to Sol - in fact i would put Carragher ahead of Sol at the moment.

Sol is a good player, but i do agree with having to earn your place.
As for the actual squad selection, its not really fair. The players are basically picked by as people say the media, but also the squad they play for. For example, Crouch, i mean come on, yeh he is tall, but he is so clumsy, but because he now plays for liverpool (who have really helped him to score because it was crouch and the media was giving him stick) he get a look in on the England squad.
Yeh Owen is not fit, and bent never really got a look in, despite being the top prem goal scorer for a while, and i would put this partly down to not being a a 'preaty' club such as Man U if you get the gist.

On saying this though, come Germany 2006, i will be supporting England and the players that put on that shirt.
