Is it right ??
Can it be true??
Are they stopping printing the Pink ?

I have some wonderful memories of getting it on a Saturday evening. Waiting outside the newsagents for the van to come, then my newsagent ringing the next one on the drop to tell him the van was on its way.

Sorry to see it go

Heard them talking about it on the radio yesterday.

Admittedly it has gone downhill over the last few years so I'd given up buying it anyway

Same here. Used to be part of the weekend ritual, but haven't read it for ages.

In part they are a victim of external factors (fewer games to report on Saturday, fans relying on internet/sky for football news...) but some of it is their own fault too. The journalism was lazy, boring & unimaginative.

Meaning Evil : you're next.

it will still be done it's just being incorporated into the mail on a saturday and monday.

i'll be sorry to see it go, all the midlands football in one publication, it was brilliant to read how our rivals were doing, sure i hate the vile but without em it would be a boring old world wouldn't it  i never understand why midlands football never seems to do anything of note. sad to say i use ICbirmingham to read all about the other clubs now.

Sorry to see it go, fish and chips won't taste the same now as you're walking down the road eating and reading the pink where the grease stains aren't

getting off the train from away games and analyzing every comment and wondering which game they had seen to write that particular report(unless we won)

Sad to see The Argus going -All those dark nights stood outside the newsagents in the freezing cold waiting for the van to come down the road, then dashing to the van (the guy delivering The Argus had an easy job 'cos he never had to carry them in to the shop).

Time was that when you couldn't get to a game The Argus was the quickest way to find out how we'd got on btu TV, radio & internet have all taken that over now.

Goodbye Argus we'll miss you. :(

Not surprised about this to be honest. When the National Lottery was launched in '94 people started buying lottery tickets rather than enter the Post & Mail's Spot the Ball competition.

As the main reason for buying The Argus was the Spot the Ball entry form sales slumped and this, coupled with lazy jounalism and treating fans of other sports with contempt, was the begining of the end.

Goobye SA you had a good life but the propreitors dumbed you down and killed you off. The Mail will be next as they merge it with The Post .

I only ever read it when my dad brings it but he hasn't done so for years now.

Used to like reading the Blues section with the captain's weekly column and stuff. Didn't really read anything else.

Hope they put it into the Mail in the same format with sections for each game and club.

Having games all over the place hasn't helped but surely a little imagination on the journalist's part wouldn't have gone a miss. Afterall, it is only the match report that would need to change, not the whole paper.

Well said. I still follow the local rugby, which the Argus hasn't covered for ages. Plenty of angling though :ph43r:

A quick pint or two after the match, jump on the bus and get home in time for the Argus. Hit the chippy and head off home to read about the day's events.

Oh for the days when football just used to be something to do on a Saturday.

Roast chestnuts on a cold wet day outside New Street ramp.
Waiting for the bloody van, checking your watch & grabbing the first paper after he cut the string & leggin it for the train (30 mile journey)

I still remember them giving Pendrey 2 points and MotM after some blindingly awful performance of ours.... it made that journey less frightful.

Shame, but they deserve it one thinks.

:(
