Loan players can't play against the club which holds their registration, league rules I'm afraid.

I'm pretty sure that nowadays its an FA rule that players can't play against the team that holds their contract, so its irrelivant whether or not the two teams have a gentlemans agrement on it. :(
Shame we have to lose him for a game just as he's putting in the performances.

Cant agree more
I think he could get it though
Even though he said Muzzy could make it
I would rather him make the bench and come on with 20 mins to go

Its unfotunate due to Butts recent performances. But, Jarosik and DJ will be more than able to do the job. That is if Jarosik has recovered by then.

The difference is Pennat was released from his Arsenal contract, and effectivley played for blues on a non contract basis until the summer. So strictly speaking he was not on loan and therefore was able to face his formner club.

Then why did we have to pay them £3M?

I don't think it's a ruling that they cannot play, I think its just a case that most clubs don't allow them to. Did he play them last time I cant remember?

Nope :
Newcastle: Given, Ramage, Taylor, Bramble, Babayaro, Solano (Clark 82), Parker, Emre, N'Zogbia (Ameobi 57), Shearer, Owen.
Subs Not Used: Elliott, Harper, Faye.

Booked: Taylor, Shearer, Emre.

Goals: Emre 78.

Birmingham: Maik Taylor, Cunningham, Martin Taylor, Upson, Clapham, Pennant, Izzet (Forssell 86), Kilkenny, Lazaridis (Pandiani 86), Jarosik, Heskey.
Subs Not Used: Vaesen, Tebily, Painter.

Booked: Lazaridis, Izzet.

Although, I think he may have been injured. That looks like a weird match to me... I mean, Jarosik in strike? Upson actually playing??

I'm sure Premiership rules don't allow loan players from playing against their own club.

Can't remember where i'd seen this (can only find it on some arsenal fan type site), heard it before amny time though. I'm sure its correct, why jiri didn;t play v chelski

Am 99% sure that there was an agreement between Brum and Chelsea that Jarosik couldn't play against Chelsea.

If we can do a pennant deal, would you do it or not. Over the last lot of games since midelsborough really, he has played well, so should we get him permanantly.

Premier league rules now stipulate that players cannot play against clubs from which they are being loaned from. The rule came into force the season after a certain Portsmouth/Newcastle match where (correct me if I’m wrong) Lua Lua scored against Newcastle whilst on loan at Portsmouth causing a bit of a commotion.

Pennant signed for us before the Arsenal game, and played, or had some agreement were he was a blues player.

Shame Butt cant play - he was great against Welshburn.

Jiri is very doubtful and Muzzy is a doubt as well.

I think it might well be Kilkenny who takes over in the midfield.
