McClaren rested Hasselbaink, Southgate and Viduka for the Portsmouth match on Saturday, yet he played them on Monday 3 days before the semi final match against Bucharest. Southgate and Viduka are now injured. Wouldnt it have been better to rest them on Monday and not Saturday??. Does anyone else agree that this was a poor decision by the favorite to be the new England manager????

I've never liked McClaren. Never liked him and never rated him. No way could I support my country if he was manager.

My missus is half-Italian so I suppose I'd have to do the decent thing and marry her so I could support them lot.

In fact I might propose to her with that exact line, what do you think? Too romantic? :ph43r:

People should have been outraged at the choice of the current England manager not one who is an English man. Oh the mighty England the only major football nation to choose a foreigner as a manager how far they have fallen.

I’m sure anyone who chooses to support Scotland over England due to the choice of a manager would neither be wanted by the Scots or welcomed in their crowd. This is football not teeny pop where you can change your allegiances as often as your T-shirt.

No markymark you miss the whole point of international football. If you are a major football nation your manager should be home grown. You shouldn’t go around the world cherry picking people who you think might do a good job for you. If the managers you have to pick from are not the best in the world tough. You then need to address it via a plan between the FA and the Premiership or if that is not possible the FA needs to come up with a plan to produce competent managers from within.

It’s called the national team for a reason. No one is suggesting because left side midfield has been a problem for England they go out and scout whoever they can from anywhere in the world to fill the position and work out how he can qualify to play for England. It’s no different for the manager. The only reason you should use a foreign manager is if your are a developing football nation who will benefit from their expertise until they can produce their own managers. England does not fit into this category. It will be the eternal shame of England that they had to appoint a foreign manager lets not compound the issue by appointing another.

You have missed my point I meant who would you like to see as manager? Picking the team is easy I think most people would have the same 8 or 9 players in their starting line up. Maybe a few changes. The England team almost picks itself.

I'm waiting for people to throw the name of O'Neill and Hiddink in again - despite them ruling themselves out.
