Definite Change Of Atmosphere

I think when we went up no matter what the players did good or bad the fans cheered because we all knew it would be a battle to stay up. I think it helped the players in some ways to remain confident and not be afraid to try something new. Duggary was a good case in point. A lot of new fans came to the games at this time but in the second and third years they were not so forgiving.

We have come a long way in a short time and those who didn’t go down very much before we got promoted need to consider where we are now compared to all those years in the wilderness. I don’t think we are any different to many other clubs in the prem whereby our expectations surpass the reality of our situation. I cannot understand why people moan throughout the game as it does nothing to motivate the players or the fans.

The one thing that always stood out down the blues in the past was the atmosphere it was part of the reason some of the football was easier to endure. All seated stadiums have gone some way to dampen this but there are also some people who have only been going for a few years who have greater expectations than what can be delivered. A few years ago there was some talk of making some blocks available to those who wanted to sing – don’t ask me how they would have worked that one out – in the hope of creating an atmosphere.

Whatever people say about the atmosphere at the blues it’s nothing like years gone by. Let’s just hope when the money men decide to take their money elsewhere we can get back to players living in the community and taking the seats out so people can start singing again.

I love singing KRO but a bit of variety like in the old days wouldn’t go amiss.

On the subject of the old days let me tell you………..kids had a bit more respect. You could get a clip around the ear from a bobby, there was a bit more respect and there was none of those fancy day electronic toys. We had to walk 10 miles to work with no shoes and eat gravel for breakfast, dinner and tea if we were lucky. Oh happy days before TV in the evenings we would all go into the front room and gather around the piano wishing someone could play it. :D
