Worth The Risk?

Is it worthwhile risking some of our players who might not be fit, on Saturday? I'm including Heskey and Pennant in that.

What I think may be worth the risk is to do something I've argued against before, and that is, just for this one game, bring in Nick Wright.

My reasoning behind this is that:

1. Nick Wright is a right winger.
2. Although he is extremely raw, he has tremendous pace and a vicious shot (which may go over the stand, agreed).
3. It would allow the shape of the rest of the midfield to stay the same, without having to push DJ out wide.
4. It allows Mario to be cover for Tebily, instead of playing out of position.
5. Nick will be someone completely unknown to Everton and may provide a few surprises. Who knows, he might even score.
6. It allows Pennant the opportunity to get himself fit for the remaining two matches.
7. He and Julian could supply the ammunition for Forsell and Sutton to score from.

Ive heard only good things about nick wright, and apart from him being a Viller fan, i have no qualms in him or any other youngster playing.

Agreed on all parts.

Havent seen that much of Wright this season but he has always been a great talent.

As you say he is very very raw at the moment and if the game isnt going his way then his head tends to drop but it has to be worth the chance.

How good did Gray play wednesday

He played quality because he was playin in the correct position

So why would we want to move him straight out of position

I think Mario did a good job on right wing the other night. I say put Pennant on if he is ok and have Mario as a replacement again. However, if Pennant isbn't fit then it may be worthwhile trying Wright....he can soon be replaced if it is not working.

wright isnt going to play in fact he probably isnt good enough for the premiership yet so why even think about it? i can see pennant making it for sat and if he doesnt then i am guessing dj will be out wide with izzet going into the centre

im sure about one thing we are all going to be in for a suprise, i dont think anybody on here has ever been 100% right on team selection.

if they have and i missed it they were wrong about the formation and positions lol.

I agree - but we have SB as manager - anything is possible.

not defensive enough for bruce. he had oppurtunity to do it on wed and decided to bring on a defender for an atacking player!!!

and we won the game!

One possible reason for the desicion was to have players in the middle of the park to bully their very physical midfield!
Oh well has to be something to moan about after a win.

As for Wright, its a possibility. It wouldn't hurt to give him a go, iplay him from the start, and if he struggles bring him off. Its not like we've not had to make early substitutions before.

Think like a manager who NEEDS to get a result - Leave Gray where he belongs and only leave Pennant out if absolutley neccessary. Then if so play Melchiot BUT only if you have NO other right sided option available.

Make 1 change not 2 or 3
