Steve,

Can I offer my congratulations to you and your team for executing to perfection your tactical masterplan. Once again you sent out your side to protect the 'nil' with which each team begins a game.

It was good to see that despite the current league position nothing was going to prevent you from using the one and only plan you use for all away games. A plan so tried and tested it has achieved a mamouth eleven points out of a possible fifty four from eighteen games.

Not for us the chance of testing the home keeper. Not for us the oppertunity of being awarded a penalty and maybe, just maybe putting the ball into the Everton net. Still you know best Steve as scoring goals isn't really that important.

I'm now a believer. Steve Bruce is a great Manager, motivator and tactical genius and I've been so very wrong.

p.s. If you don't agree with me go back to Villa Park because you're not a real Blues fan.

100% with Jackoblue on this.

We had no choice but to try to win this from the outset. Portsmouth were highly to win therefore witout winning the impetus switches to them. They can now go for a win at Wigan and we have the pressure of trying to make our home advantage count next week.

If we had lost today we would still be looking for a two wins in the remaining games so what the hell.

With Liverpool reaching the cup final they will field a weakened team against Pompey and Sharner won't be busting a gut to stop their forwards next week just as Yakubu was not committed for 'Boro.

Sullivan will have gone ape with Bruce methinks

i am just as annoyed.

he starts with players who he admits are injured, yet this time he has options, but his stubborness, gets the better of him and the team suffers again

Agreed. We can't afford to play players who are not 100% fit in matches like this but it's exactly what he has done and as the BBC said in their report:

Quote:

But the game petered out into a tame draw, with Everton unable to produce any real quality and Birmingham showing a surprising lack of urgency given their desperate plight.

Heskey hasn't scored goals all season, what makes Bruce think he's now going to score the goals to keep us up in the last few matches? Forssell should have started today.

What worries me is should we go down,( and I hope we don't! ) if bruce stays how the hell we gonna get back up with his tactical thinking. :(

How a clearly unfit Jermanine Pennant, Julian Gray and DJ Campbell can even take part in the Goodison game today ahead of Neil Kilkenny is absolutely beyond me

Matt Sadler was one of our best performers today....another youngster from the Academy

We simply CANNOT score goals.......if we don't beat Newcastle next Saturday we are most certainly down

Hate to rub salt in the wounds but both the Magpies AND Bolton are both chasing UEFA Cup spots and Newcastle have won their last 5....it don't look good

BRUCE OUT MAY 8th..........WE DEMAND CHANGE

One of the reasons we are in the bottom three is because we are negative away from home. We don't try and win games. We start with a point and our whole strategy is to sit back and hang on.

As has already been pointed out even a loss today would not have been the end of the world. But SB didn't even try to win - that's what is so bloody infuriating!!!!!

It now mean that Newcastle is an absolute 100% dead cert MUST win forget the last day Pompey will be playing a virtual Liverpool reserve side.

I don't get how we're supposed to go for a win away from home with half a team missing an no attack-minded midfield players to play in the middle of the park.

*Shrugs*

Aff <--- I must just accept mediocrity because I'm happy with a point. Before today we knew that the chances of us playing catch up after this game was more than probable. We've got the easier games now. I really don't understand all the negativity.

It's been a horrible season, sure. But the team are picking up points and we could actually do with everyone being united but apparently that's too much to ask.

We were shocking today, and how a Half fit Emile Heskey gets in the team ahead of a Mikael Forssell who scored in our last match isnt worth thinking about.

Because the wings are the only place that we are capable of creating and Heskey has more of a chance of dominating in the air than Forssell? Bruce was hoping that we could feed off the bits and pieces. Didn't work today like it did against Blackburn.

quick quiz question - which season did everton compete in the champs league??

WTF does that have to do with anything ??

If I recall they got dumped out by one of the Bucharest sides 6-1 on aggregate and lost to Villareal in their very 1st UEFA Cup game after being eliminated in the CL

Even both the Albion and the Vile whooped them 4-0 at home this season........Everton this season are purely average 'mid to low table'

And sorry to say....we couldn't even beat them and didn't look hungry enough to

"We couldn't even beat them"

We have most of our team missing, they're at home and by Gary Abblett's own admission, they played some of the best stuff they have all season today. I bet they're saying exactly the same.

Jeez...

It was certainly a dissapointing performance, we offered practically nothing going forward, were very sloppy in the first half and seemed very content to just battle for the point.

What scares me the most was that Everton seemed the hungrier team, it was they who WANTED to win the game.

I'm afraid I have to agree that although it's a reasonable point, we have now handed the last premiership place to Portsmouth....there you go Pompey, it's all yours.

and it didnt work today because we didnt have the players who are capable of feeding off bits starting.

Tell me who picked up the pieces to score against Blackburn? and for a bonus, who didnt start today?

because to qualify you have to be a good side that doesnt concede much - if you're too dumb to realise that you have a problem... ;)

Nothing to do with the buffeting that the Rovers centre-halves had had all evening from Emile and Sutton? Silly me. Bruce used exactly the same tactic today. The only difference? It worked on Wednesday, it didn't today.

You're too dumb to realise this is April 2006

Everton finished 4th a whole year ago....and if I recall we finished 13th

As for NOW ....the PRESENT ........TODAY ....both sides are pale shadows of the sides from a year ago.........and you could see that today

And as for NOT conceding much.......didn't Everton lose to Arseal SEVEN NIL too ???

Kind of bashes your theory about don't it ??
