While watching the Liverpool v Chelsea game on Saturday, I got to thinking that gumen just aren't.......alright maybe assination's a little bit severe for this one but for God's sake, how much longer do we have to put up with him?!?!? Didn't anyone else spot hit classic, over excited comment at the end of the game? Motson (screaming) ''and somebody's just told me Mourinho and Benitez didn't shake hands...but I didn't see it myself'' Didn't see what exactly John? You didn't see them 'not' shake hands? How demented does he have to get before somebody at the BBC notices that there's a raving looney commentating on the football each week. He's so annoying, it's untrue. I don't wish the bloke any serious illness but for the sake of my enjoyment of this year's World Cup, can he not be struck down with a throat infection lasting until the end of summer? Please God, help me out here! |

I like Motty, not for what he says it just seems right that he should commentate on games. If they changed the voice would seem... wrong |

In addition to that, is it possible for the BBc or ITV to find commentators that are capable of not being too jingoistic? Not to go on about how foreigners dive and not go on about how such and such is typically Italian, Germany, French, African, etc etc and please can we not be sooo biasd towards Brazil? I know they are a good footballing country but (bit of a shock here) WE are not Brazilian! and I really couldn’t give a toss about how they play to the samba beat! Oh and one last thing can they refrain from getting too excited after we have won one game and not to go on about how we are the best team in the world! |

i wish we i could watch the world cup with sky commentary. Motson is an idiot and his performance yesterday summed how bad he is. I plan on watching the world cup with radio five commentary (only slightly better) or with the mute button on. |

I don't think that it's jingoistic as much as lazy and cliched. I would like our commentators - especially the BBC - to be more nationalistic. They almost seem to be apologetic about wanting England to win. Does anyone imagine that the Italian, Argentinian or Brazilian commentators are impartial ? |

I can vouch for the italians, I my experience they are unbiased to the point of being almost anti italian, that bang on and on about the merits of the opposing team and the frailties of their own. I have never heard an italian say "We have the best football in the world" or that" We can win this" or claim that the other teams cheating is a natural extension to their nationality. |

Motson is way past it. The guy is a total embarrassment. He never shuts up. He's had his day, the BBC should wake up and get rid of this prize idiot  |

Yes Motson is incompetent, an idiot, and a senile embarrassment. But you've got to have something to take the p*** out of during the match, haven't you? It's all about entertainment. tomatoes |
