Looking at the threads about next season, everyone seems to be assuming that DJ will stay.

I would have thought that he would be an attractive target for a newly promoted Premiership club :

1. Blues player of the season (i.e. "better than" Upson, KC, Pennant, etc)

2. Modest wages

3. Versatile

4. Great attitude

5. Excellent fitness record

I'd buy him anyway.

I guess that he wants to play in the Prem as much as anybody.

Because he will stay.

Pointless thread.

Sorry, Real Madrid will come in for him.

Look at it this way... could he play for anyone in the top 6? No. Would you play him over Steven Davis, Cahill, Bouba Diop, Bullard, Barton, Kishishev, Boateng, Mendes? NO.

He couldn't even make the starting 11 for the newly promoted teams with Sidwell & Jagielka in CM.

Damien Johnson is a good player. But the PL has got stronger. He could only make it into WBA's & Sunderland's team, hence why we were relegated, lack of quality.

DJ works hard, but don't take the ****. No one would want him. He's not good enough for us, forget anyone else.

I'm not even going to start to get into this again- this is a very old and out of date debate. The guy is our player of the year and you still don't rate him???? wtf**

I'm sure David Livermore is Millwall's player of the season. Player of the season doesn't mean anything, unless you've got a team full of quality (who aren't injured).

DJ's a decent player. He's just not good enough. He's started every week for Birmingham, if he made that much impact we wouldn't be in the state we are now. Look how Steven Reid has lifted Blackburn.

The only player who's proven his worth is Jiri Jarosik, and that wasn't in every single game either.

Trying hard means nothing if you've got no skill. Relegation proves this.

My reasons have been explained.

I didn't think I'd need to explain. Obviously some Birmingham supporters are still brain washed, even though we're now in the CHAMPIONSHIP.

Forssell is more than happy to stay
I spoke to pennant and he said he dont know so imo hes off :(
Spoken to Sadler,Kilkenny and Oji for about 5 minutes, they are good lads and sadler told me bout his contract. Kilkenny said quite a few people are goin
I asked him about Pennant and he said more than likely :(
I was shocked at how nice Oji is he seems like one of these big heads who thinks he is it but was very nice and he seems confident if he gets a chance in the first team he will do very well :D
Nafti said he is fit and chuffed he is in the squad for the world cup
Jarosik said he doesnt know, Latka said he wants to stay
I asked KC about playing on next season and he said we will have to see
I spoke with Bruce and it seems to me like he is not going to be managing us next season

I was at the awards last night, we were at DJ's table (Able to get there through work), god you were not that fool going around were you asking players all kinds of things.

At the start of the season i reckon less than 50% of the people on here rated him now because he is 1 of the select few who gave everything in the season, which he must be applauded for, people rate him.

He was our player of the season, but that just shows how inept we have been, he will never be a premiership class player and for that reason alone he will be going nowhere in the summer. I think he will do a good job for us in the Championship as long as its in centre midfield alongside an attacking player.

That was my opinion at the start of the season and it has not changed.

He was right for once we would have been relegated by Christmas.

Sorry DJ fans - I am glad he has had recognition for his work, but that hardly makes him a premier quaility player. Do not be fooled into thinking his award makes him a 'better' player than Pennant et al. It is recognition of his work rate and because so many other players were so abject.

Put it into perspective. If you were in a position where you could buy a player from Arsenal, would it be Gilberto or Fabregas? If you were to raid Westy Ham would it be Benoyoun or Mullins? Fact is that, whatever his awards, DJ would not get a sniff at many top clubs - players like Pennant would, which is why it is impeartive our board and manager pull out all the stops to keep him on board.

Right above.

He wouldn't make it into anyone's starting 11 bar Sunderland and WBA. You can say 'but you're not the manager' and give me a silly response, but we all know he wouldn't, even teams down near the bottom have players like Bouba Diop and Boateng.

Reason enough. He's not good enough for the PL.

Absolutely right. Great attitude, good work ethic, BUT, name me ONE prem team that he would get a starting place at? Certainly none in the center of midfield. He played almost every game this season...goal return...ZERO (or close to it). You cannot be a successful team when central mids are not contributing at least a handful of goals.

As blues fans I am afraid we have bought up on almost always a diet of tripe, not caviar. We applaud effort but IMO don't recognise class often enuff. Look at how people have for years raved over the likes of the horse and other similar players. Sorry if this is a bit strong, and I should have said it in a more PC manner maybe, but it's gotta be said. We need to demand effort AND class - we shouldn't always settle for 2nd best.
