Instead of bemoaning our luck and beating ourselves up about which players will/will not move on let's consider the West Ham of a few years ago. They were "too good to be relegated" , but were. Many quality players shipped out of there but they regrouped, bought wisely in the transfer/Bosman market and have come back as a force. Are we capable of doing the same? I reckon the answer is yes but we have to have the will and the foresight to succeed. I don't think SB can get a team to play the super football that WHU did/are doing right now. So we need to look for a new manager who has vision, can be astute in the marketplace and is a good motivator of players, strong enough to get his way regarding how he wants his team to play and finding the right young players to put all this into practice. There has to be a five year (at least) plan in place which should include getting back this time next year, then consolidating before moving onto into European football by 2010. I think we need to take a gamble on somebody, someone with a knowledge of what the game is all about, a knowledge of Europe, a knowledge of playing in the lower leagues but with experience at the top of the football system in this country, someone who has been a winner in his playing career and is a winner in life. My man - the WHU connection again - Teddy Sheringham. DS and DG both have connections in that part of the world so they don't have to look very far !! In my opinion anyway |

But remember, by their own admission West Ham have been lucky with injuries this season (same as Wigan). They have both had virtually none. West Ham rested 6 against Portsmouth and got thrashed, they were awful that game. If they had injuries to any major players they would have been towards the bottom and people would have been saying that they expected that, and they were not good enough for Prem. |

Alot of good points bluemoon, but I really believe sb will get us out and make us stronger. Maybe he could have help with TS or someone else like him as a number 2. I can go for that. We do need a change of coaches thats for sure and oh yes a new physio team, dietician, and psychologist. ;) |
