On the one hand, people want us to get a bunch of young hungry quality players to get us out of the championship.

On the other, people are expecting a discount on their season ticket. It doesn't add up!

Our income is dropping by £17million, which OK can be offset by releasing/selling a few players.
Well we've just released eight - they need replacing don't they?

You've got a point but not all need replacing.

Sutton - We need 4 strikers. So with Sutton going we need a replacement. I see Heskey going so he'll help recoup some cash, maybe finance these two.
Jiri - was a bit part player (luxury).
Butt - Clemence or Kilkenny will figure more now Butts out.
Melchiot - Bruce or Tebily will figure more now Melchiots gone.
Vaesen - Goalkeeper needs sorting.
Kenny - Oji, Painter or New signing need to step up.
Clapham - Sadler needs cover, possibly Painter.
Stan - Gray or New left winger

Sorry just not good enough. I don't think I will be renewing this year.

The thousand pound that my 2 season tickets cost would now be better spent on my mortgage which currently has a shortfall of around 13K on the endownment. Don't this board realise that this is a working persons club and that money does not come easy to us.

This is no incentive at all. Lets just for a minute assume that the season ticket prices had reduced to an average of £350 for next season (this is a figure being touted as acceptable and I for one agree) then what I would be paying on plan B is about what I'd expect to pay the following season anyway.

Most Blues fans would be expecting/hoping that the team would be more than likely to go up having spent one season in the championship so it's not inconceivable that, with the RIGHT ticket pricing, that 20,000 might renew; as things stand I can only see half of that renewing - the maths don't add up.

10,000 fans at 500 quid a time (£500 as an average) = £5M
20,000 fans at £350 a time (again an average) = £7M (the extra 2M being the wages of someone like Cameron Jerrome with a bit of change left for a season)

At £350 a ticket the club only needs to sell 14286 tickets - isn't that what we were already selling when people theought we were going up anyway!

This is a bad move by our board to try and minimise the effect of relegation on their own pockets.

Would you honestly go into a car showroom where there's a Jag priced at £25K next to a mini priced at £25K and buy the mini in the hope that next year you might be able to get the Jag cheaper - I wouldn't but the board seem to think I would.

I'm pretty sure you can, you have to renew in your current seat and then move once everyone has renewed or not renewed.

Very well said **thumbup

I will be renewing without a doubt, plus I take my 7 year old brother with me and now he only has to pay £99 which is great.

One thing that should have been done though was to make it £99 for ages up to 16 plus students.

The offer of 20% off next season, (I cant afford to pay for 2 season tickets now!), is also a great offer because if we do manage to get back up my season ticket will be around £410 :D

Brilliant news for the kids, but there will prob be more kids in the ground next year than adults. Think of the atmosphere.

a junior season ticket for under 12's for ONLY £99!

That's less than £5 per game for the best available seats in the ground, the official Birmingham City yearbook, free junior supporter membership and many more exclusive offers!

That's a great move **thumbup **thumbup **thumbup

Fair point but the principle doesn't change does it - and while on about a cheaper part of the ground I'm actually in the top of the old main stand so there's an argument for being charged more than other parts in the first place. Paying more for inferior facilities - I must be mad!!

This season i paid £579.50 but i saw at the bottom of the renewel page that to be a concession i have to be 16-21 and be born between 1/08/84 and 31/7/89 my birthday is on 12/11/87 so that means i can get a concession dosnt it!?

Very disappointed in season ticket announcements.

We're in the championship. I want to renew, but I cannot agree to the principal of having to pay the same as for the premiership.

Saw the inital posting on the website and title got me interested in thinking there was going to be some sort of reduction for next season. Quoting reduced prices for season after next is a bit odd and a disappointing way to mask the fact that there is no reduction to watch us at a lower level of football.

Steve Bruce's salary has gone down by 50%, why can't season ticket prices do the same?
"no"

So, whichever way you look at it, next season is Championship football at Premiership prices. Not a cat in hells chance!

On the good side though is that IF... and it's a big IF... we get back into the Premiership at the first go you have a guaranteed seat cheaper than last season. Being able to pay less for a season ticket in the Prem than 2 years previous is a good deal. The club is risking losing money on that... but so are we who are gambling we might get back there!

I will re-new my season ticket but I am not impressed. This season has been a disgrace both on and off the pitch. Are they going to charge punters the full (Premiership) price for Championship matches on the day? I think not because very few people will turn up. The small reduction in the second season is a joke. Some teams that stayed (e.g. Everton) up are freezing their prices (I wonder would we have done that if we stayed up?). Charlton have announced kids £99 season tickets. It is the usual spin trying to disguise the fact our money is all important to them.

Have I read this right :

Option A:

06/07 - Same Price as 05/06
07/08 - 20% reduction
08/09 - 06/07 prices. Guaranteed. And only need to pay 06/07 up front by June 18.

Option B: (2 yr ST labelled as 25% reduction)

06/07 - Same Price as 05/06
07/08 - 25& reduction on 06/07 price
08/09 - 06/07 prices. Guaranteed. And need to pay 06/07 AND 07/08 up front.

So that's a whopping extra 5% off an ST for 07/08.
Actual "2 year" ST price reduction 12.5% - an extra saving of appx £30 if I pay for 2 seasons up front. A whole free game.

As opposed to Option A, and effective 10% "2 year" ST price reduction.

Both options STILL guarantee 08/09 prices at 05/06 (or 06/07..), so no actual difference there.

So, if a pay nearly double up front for 2 seasons, as opposed to taking option A and spread my payments over 2 years (whether interest free card or lump sum..), I can save an extra £10.

No brainer, really. Option A every time. Still get a cheap 07/08 season, and a guaranteed 08/09 price. Plus the "personal" option of not re-newing for either 07/08 or 08/09 should I so decide. And all it costs me is an extra £10(ish), as well as not having to find over £1k.....

C.

Another thing though, they would be doing the half price season tickets around christmas time, which would be a lot cheaper. I'll probably still renew though.

With Bruce & Co still at the helm, we will almost certainly be in Division One this time next year so it would be a big gamble to take option 2.

I could understand the club's reasoning if option one was a 20% discount off 2006/7 if taken by 18th June.

I sit in the Kop, I'd have been more than happy to pay £463 for my season ticket this year and £579 next year IF we got promoted. It comes accross to me that the £463 was the figure the board had in mind to charge for Championship football but as they aren't confident in gaining promotion they've tried to spice it all up with offers.

If we get promoted this year, over the next 2 seasons I'll be paying £1042.
If we don't get promoted I'll be paying £1042.

If we don't get promoted and I pay what I believe is the "Championship" price (£463) for both this season and next I would be paying £926.

If the board were confident in gaining promotion we'd be paying £463 this year and £579 next year. As it stands I believe they are trying to gain a Championship price and Premiership price so even if we don't get promotion they are still collecting the revenue they would have made from gaining promotion.

Portsmouth offered fans the chance to buy their season tickets in February. They paid the same price they did for last seasons ticket. If however, Portsmouth got relegated they would refund £140. Take note Mr. Gold, that is loyalty to your fans.

Saying all this I'll still be paying the ridiculous price for my season ticket this year as I love Birmingham City. I do not however appreciate my love for the club being used against me when season ticket renewal time comes around every year.
