I would imagine we are going to get a few paper stories now from our released players. Nico talks a lot of sense in this interview though.

Sounds like a dig towards the coaching staff or the board when he says things have to change?

Well I think SOMEONE should go into specifics ! ! !

Obviously the first part means the coaching, so lets replace the coaches.

But what on earth can "ouside influences" mean? The directors?????? surely not.

"I don't want to go into specifics but a lot of people have blamed the players but you have to remember they are prepared in a certain way. You have got to look at the whole picture, at what happens in the week and the outside influences that affect a club."

a nice considered response from a guy with much dignity. its interesting to me that he thinks sb is the man for the job depending on different factors, and that he doesn't seem to attach any blame to sb at all...these are experianced pro's and they know a good manager from a bad one, yet they are on his side it seems. why would that be then?

thats my take too, plus the 5 or 6 other guys around the place - players interaction with prem managers is quite limited normally.

Sorry but this interview makes little sense to me. It reads like vague waffle.

1. The players are primarily responsible. They are very well paid & they were cr@p this season. (That's why we're going down).

2. Everybody accepts that there are other guilty parties & just about everybody (inc Black & Bullivant) have come in for criticism too.

No he's not as such is he. I think he must hold some blame on Brucie and much on our approach to things (whoever is responsible for that) - don't forget he saw Huddersfield go from serious promotion hopefuls to relegated due to Brucie's over spending. When we signed him it was Francis that did so (not Bruce) - he had no choice in having to work with Bruce again. I just think he doesn't want to slag the guy off directly in any way.

Most of the players do seem to like Bruce as person, he's a nice bloke after all!!, but I do wonder how many of them respect him as a manager.

Ultimately it's the manager's job to oversee the players preparation, even though he delegates the day-to-day training to the brothers grim, so in the end I'm afraid he has to carry the can. He appoints the coaches and if they're not doing their job then he has to step in and rectify it, that's why he's the manager not a coach and why he's paid several times the amount than Black and Bullivant, it's too take ultimate responsibility for the team which I'm afraid he has failed to do.
And as nothing is ever his fault I can't see it changing next season neither.

Sorry i disagree. The manager IS to blame,he prepares the team he signs the players and he selects them.If the team hasnt been prepared well this season(which is obvious)it is down to him and him only.

Sounds to me that Vasen is having a pop at Bruce. Its down to Bruce to put things right even if its the coaching side that keeps getting it wrong. The buck stops with the manager. He sat there and witnessed the same sh** that we all did last season but changed nothing.`
Cant believe Vasen is having a go at Sullivan for his comments. Should have been said earlier. The palyers think they are above criticism.

it seems all has not been well at the club for a while

and as a result our relegation is no surprise

if the coaches are to blame then who hires the coaches !!

Imo sullivan was right to say what every bluenose was thinking. But it appears that the coaches are to blame but what do you expect getting two ex lower league managers in to coach a premiership side.Look what Welshburn ended up doing this season with Bowen. But then again their chairman trusted the management with the money that was given to them.Say no more.

I understand that the coaching staff at Blackburn are the most qualified coaches in the Prem, do not know if that is true or not.

I do know that since Bruce sacked Bowen things seem to have gone downhill rather fast.
