We paid 1.2 million for a defender with premiership experience at Ch and RB.

He was only ever bought for cover- never supposed to be 1st choice.

He has never badly let us down. In april for example we played 7 premiership games with him playing. 4 clean sheets. twice we conceded 1. Away at villa we let in three but this was after he had been told he was dropped!!!!!!!

Martin Taylor was by no means the reason we went down- get real with your critisism.

He may not be 1st choice in the Championship but he just may be the best cover any team in the league. has at centre back

Good point and imo he hasn't been that bad, yes he does give you heart in mouth moments but he seems alright! especially for the championship!

Ive never really slated either, i always said that with a few gams and a run in the team his sharpness would improve and he would get better all round. I think he will be a big player for us next season if we keep him.

They say statistics dont lie but obviously they do. Martin Taylor is no better than what we had there originally in darren Purse. Purse was proven that he wasn t a Premiership player and neither is Martin Taylor.

Erm... because:-

1. He's slow.
2. Hesitant.
3. Indecisive.
4. Has a poor first touch, even when not under pressure.
5. Has poor positional sense.
6. Allows himself to be physically intimidated by shorter, less powerful players e.g Baros.
7. Because he never physically imposes himself on the man he's marking.
8. Because he's never come close to scoring at a corner, despite usually being the tallest man in the box.
9. Because he never reacts to a conceded goal with greater determination.

Need any more reasons?

On the positive side, he did make millions of Sky viewers laugh with his performance against Liverpool in the Cup.

He's not the reason we went down but he's symbolic of a team that simply wasn't good enough to survive.

Honky bluenose, I am negative towards Martin Taylor because he is not good enough to represent us in the Premier League.
Championship is a different matter however.

I am a fickle football fan - its in our nature.
Next season I`ll probably love him !! :P

I bear him no ill-will for this - its not his fault.

However, this does not hide the fact that he is not good enough.

but were not talking about a premiership 1st choice, we are talking about a championship player

not one to slate, but from the day we bought him I have not been happy about it,

saw him a few times at b burn, and didnt rate him, saw him lots at blues, still dont rate him, not a prem class palyer for sure,

maybe with an extended run and the confidence that comes with that (if your winning more than losing) then the championship might be his making

we will see, dont hold out much hope though to be fair.

I've never slated a Blues player in all my time, Martin Taylor however is different......

......he is garbage, some things he does in a game scares me, unsettles the players next to him and he gets away with things because others cover him.........

He's the only Centre Back who stand 6'5" (or whatever it is) and jumps 4'6".....get's muscled off the ball by smaller opponents, isn't quick enough and I've seen better quality Centre Back's on a Saturday afternoon in amatuer league's.....

Simply not good enough, which is a shame as he's got all the the right physical build to be a player but none of the skill, desire, speed, quality to be that player......

Needs to be shown the door.............sorry!

Matty.

I think you have the reason now why we do not rate the guy.

Who are you his agent? LOL.

Makes you wonder really, why he has a manager who was labelled the best centre half to never get an England cap. and yet he does not seem to have helped Taylor in any way.

The worst centre half the club has ever had, no way is that true. we have had far worse

Willie I challenge you to give me a name because I can't think of one at the moment that I'd rate lower than Taylor.

Not saying you're wrong I just can't think of a name.

Too slow.

Remeber Souness said he'd play for England one day...but his track record with center-halves rivals Brucie's with strikers....

Darren Purse was great until he got sent off - virtually every other game!

I agree.

He is an example of the "buy any warm body" problem that afflicted SB. A lot of money was spent on too many sub-par players.

Ah! yes the mighty Bjorn - Don't say the name to loud or we'll have centreback pairing of him and Taylor next season.

The stuff of nightmares.
