Well according to the poll “Should Bruce stay” we have 43 who say NO and 39 who say YES. A slight 10% more peeps want Bruce to go. As I see it the people who want Bruce to stay, have in the main two reasons why. 1. He took us to the Promised Land. 2. He is a nice guy. But according to the link that StAndrews4ever posted “My name is Steve” people post a myriad reasons why Bruce should go. So in essence the people who want Bruce to stay have in the main, two reasons why. And the people who want Bruce to go, well I have lost count of the reasons why. Am I missing something here folks? |

I want Bruce to stay because his record for us in the championship was superb! Strangely, if we'd stayed up, i would've wanted him out. I just cant think who we'd get better now we're in Division 1?! |

The fact is, that Bruce will be unbeaten as a manager for the next couple of months. Things will have to get a worse (that's right folks, a lot worse than the last 2 seasons), before our esteemed owners deem it apt to "get shot". Looking forward to it? I bet you can't wait. The debate is over for now, our obstinate, nay suicidal owners have seen to that. BRUCE OUT (when good sense preveils). |

Well I don't know either, but there again I don't care if he's a nice guy because he's not employed to be a nice guy he's employed to be a damn good football manager and in that respect he's failed. |

Reason 3 (and i've posted it elsewhere) If the board sack Bruce it will probably take with it a large chunk of the transfer kitty we are likely to have!! ie: Bruce's contract will have to be bought out and that won't be cheap. So to those fans who want him out, you'd better hope he agrees to go on his own volition and take a smaller sum than the actual payoff he'd get for having his contract unilaterally terminated!!! And before anyone jumps down my throat i'm still on the fence. Just point out one of the realities of sacking SB that some fans may not have factored into their passionate (and understandable) opinions. KRO |

Its easy to make up a long list of reasons but many of them dont stack up. I'm not saying some are not valid but there is another way of looking at most of them My Name is Steve. I sold the Horse and replaced him with a current England centre forward who the fans voted player of the year in his first season I brought my son to the club on a free transfer as a young squad player. He has not really let us down at all. Manchester United fans still remember me from being the captain of the double winning team. I think it is polite to acknowledge that. I am no quitter and will keep on trying to succeed. I was told I had to sell players in the summer to finance the signings and hence had to start the season with three strikers. I tried to get in lots of left backs but with the money available felt I could not get anyone better than the likes of Clapham. I was happy with the right back because Mario had such a good season last time out the fans called him Super Mario, but unfortunately he has had a lot of injuries this term that have affected his form. I had Curtis Davies lined up to join us but the board would not sanction the 3 million fee. I had hardly any resources in Jan 06 to strengthen the squad but did manage to get a promising centre half on loan that I thought would provide good cover. We lost twice to the vile despite our best efforts. A long list of injuries have played havoc with our tactics. When we have lost I have tried to keep my head up and get on with the job. We got twice as many points as Sunderland. I bought in Robbie Blake as we needed cover up front and he was all I could afford. If I had known I would get Pandiani 2 mins before the deadline I would not have signed him. I put Clinton on the bench a few times when he thought he should be starting. Unfortunately instead of coming on and proving me wrong he used to sulk about it. Clinton was a good signing and especially in his first season got the crucial goals that kept us out of the bottom 3 at Christmas. I did not want to loose him but was told I had to sell. I paid 2 million for Walter but unfortunately the board took so long to negotiate the deal that he arrived on the eve of the season and unfit. As a result he never really settled. The loss of our creative midfield players to injury has meant that we have not turned our possession into chances. I had two players lined up but the board would not endorse the signings and they ended up at Wigan. I was gutted. I got Latka in as cover. When used it was apparent that his concentration was not yet good enough to play at this level. The players have never turned against me despite being extremely upset with the attitude of certain board members towards them. Nicky Butt was our best player after Xmas. I tell it as I see it. Mark Bowen was never happy to give 100% to the club and held us to ransom over a few things. I always new it would be a tough season when I was not allowed to get in the players I had identified. Yes one or two players have become disillusioned but most have kept their heads up. I got York in two minutes before the deadline as Forsell had just got injured and there was not much available. Sutton was a gamble to try and turn the season round. It was not successful but we needed to try something different and I had no resources for a big signing. I like saying 'that’s for sure'-so what. I knew we had no cover at left back but could not get anyone in for what was available. Then when Clapham got injured that left us short until Sadler was fit again. I wish I had eleven players with the injury record, attitude and application of DJ. Everyone in football has been amazed at how well AJ has done at palace and good luck to him. We always play the system that we feel will create the best opportunities. 451 is not negative if the midfield players move forward in the channels as they should. Kilkenny is a reasonable prospect who came in and had a couple of good games but unfortunately then had a series of niggling injuries that put him back. Darren Carter had not got the pace, consistently or application to be a top premiership player as Bryan Robson found out. Unfortunately when I have found the goalscorers we needed (Dugarry, Forsell) they have got injured. Eric Black does the coaching. Injuries have been terrible and despite looking for reasons for 18 months nobody can point the finger at anything that is wrong. I genuinely believe that we have not had much luck this season. The board will only endorse very low fees for young unproven players so it’s a massive gamble looking for them. We have done OK with Kilkenny though. Our return from set pieces has been disappointing despite practicing many routines endlessly in training. The board bought an Argentinean who at the time was clearly physically a long way off being able to play in the premiership. Suddenly not quite as damming |

How many posts have there now been saying the pro Bruce lobby don't have good reason for their views?? What is that all about? What on earth is the point in posting your reasons for Bruce to stay when there is a constant return to this tunnel visioned position. Of course people have posted their views, but there are some posters who just ignore the writings to try to further their own position. Additionally, now things are turning really sour for Bruce, there are those on the anti Bruce side who are only too eager to jump in and yell, 'told you so'. Add to that the tendency for some of the anti Bruce brigade to yell 'there's only three pro Bruce people' ........................... ..................and I think I have yet another reason for at least being anti the anti Bruce position, even if I eventually have to change my position on Bruce. It is partly populated by people with poor attitude, and poor respect for others views. You don't tend to get that sort of rhetoric from the pro lobby. (I have to stress this is not true of the anti Bruce people). |

But why would you make up reasons? If you want to know something you read and digest, or you ask questions in an encouraging way. But really (some of) the anti lobby do not want to know anthing other than what they believe. They feel far safer wrapped in their particular comfort blanket of pretending that theirs is the only view tha holds any water. |
