No thanks, I remember he refused to join us once when he was a player. I'd rather have Jim Royle ;) |

We need: Curbishley Graham Robson Ranieri Keegan Venables (being touted for the Boro' job mind) And a decent number 2 who knows how to train a squad and run a decent fitness regime. Plus a large pile of cash. |

...Yes, its a long one! George Burley would be a good call, but he'll be working in the prem next season. Personally i think Bruce will stay, he's recieved alot of public backing from the board and has a ready made excuse for our decline, 'disruptive influences in the dressing room', all of whom he's gotten rid of during the close season! ...Lets be realistic here, whose going to want to come, besides a egoist who believes they can save a sinking ship? All of the name you guys have mentioned are either too good, by their own admission for the CCC, or dangerously incompetent in the context of the premiership: Paul Sturrock, yeh, right, how many hours was it before he was dismissed from Southampton, if this is the type of future you're planning for the Blues, then i'd suggest you jump ship to the MK Dons as they're heading in that direction. ...You're right to suggest we need a young, hungry manager, but who of those is available, most of them are self-made, i.e Chris Coleman, Adie Bothroyd, Mark Hughes, Stuart Pearce even, such appointments rest on the balls of the board, would they be brave enough to make a move for a novice, and given him all the backing he needs? or would they find safety in a Dave Bassett, the founder of the lower leagues, the Jamie Oliver when it comes to cooking up Championship classics? It would be a grey day for the 2nd city if such an appointment was made, which is why i wonder, whether all this wolf crying will haunt us at some point. Yes Bruce has shown as much know-how as a foetus playing Football Manager, but if we oust him, who would be willing to come in? and that for me is where the danger lies. ...Bruce owes it to the Blues to take us back up, which is why i'd assume, that now more than ever, back against the wall, he'd listen to ideas and suggestions floating around him. A relegation, followed by a poor start to the new campaign, and ultimately 'the sack', will rule him out of the race for any top jobs should such come available. ...The papers read Bruce has lost everything from the dressing room to his wedding ring, players have left and fired parting shots at our bulletproof chairmen, and indeed the house that Dave built is wobbling, and i say let it fall! ...Get them all out. The rumours wont stop, the tabloids will still link our players with premiership clubs regardless, why let this destablize our ambitions? Did any of you see how dejected and disinterested Andy Johnson was against Watford? Wasnt bothered, and why should he be, he knows play-offs or not, he'll be in the prem come August. 15 goals all season, yes he did have the odd injury, but frankly in over 30 games, thats not good enough for a man toutting his candidacy for an England role. ..Dont listen to the white lies players tell you , they all read the papers, and inflate their egos with all the rumours surrounding their names. Look at Pascal Chimbonda, brought a Daily Sport no doubt, heard that the Liverbirds were interested and we all know what happened next, the same thing that happened with Defoe a couple seasons back, do we want this for our Beloved Birmingham? ...Yes we need to keep our best playrs, but for want of such realism in our words, lets take the 's' of players and change the plural to a singular. We only had one premiership performer and that was Pennant. Lets face it, the rumour wont go away, and rather than a departure in the january sales, ala Dean Ashton, i think an amicable departure should be our objective now. ...With his premiership exploits still in the minds of the masses, we could command a 4 million transfer fee. Remember at the end of last season, people were talking 10 mill for AJ, now its 4, and even 3.5 in some papers! ...Im not saying JP's one of the rebels, no chance, but if he's earned the attention of the Big Boys, let him go. A couple poor performances next season and everyone will be saying his hearts not in it, he's got one eye on the premiership, and frankly the lad deserves better. ...Heskey, Dunn (if we can find a chairman foolish enough to invest), Izzett, Clemence, Martin Taylor, Julian Gray and Forsell should all follow. I wont go through the list individually, but between them, we've got a cocktail of 'im too big for the club's' and 'im too **** for the club', and personally, neither should be given the chance to spread their plague throughout the side. ...That would leave us with a handful of senior players, a good crop of young talent, and an almighty rebuilding task on our hands, which i think would prove more fruitious to our future than retaining the rubbish that sank the ship in the first place. ...Where to start? In goal, Mart Poom on loan from Arsenal, if not then Carson from the Pool. Centrehalf - Oji signed up asap. Tebily could do a job in this division, and another addition, Justin Hoyte can play either right or centre, but personally, i think he's a better centrehalf than fullback. Would've said Huth on loan, but thas too far fetched, and a permamnet move for Gardner's aiming beyond the stars! Fullbax - I think the left is ok. The right side needs alot of work. Mark Wilson from Celtic, would probably have to be a loan as he was only brought in during the january sales, but he looks good; strong, pacey with a decent cross. Stephen Kelly from Spurs, once again would have to be a loan. Defensive mid - We need a Steve Sidwell! I'd make a bid for John Welsh from Liverpool, his contract up at the end of next season. Went on loan to Hull, and got good ratings throughout the campaign. Tom Huddlestone - loan? Attacking mid - despite his lack of ability, i'd like to think, in a 3 man midfield DJ could be the box to box work-horse amongst the trio. And, if given licence to get forward, could add a couple goals to his game. ...Other additions in this area: Davie Thompson on a free; wages permitting? Wayne Routledge, on loan or given the departures of JP and Emile, perhaps a bid of 2-2.5 mill? ...Up top - Carlton Cole and Jay Bothroyd, who else! The only stumbling block for the former would be the wages, rumour has it, he was on 20 jib a week at the Ville! Bothroyd is supposedly out of contract this summer, so on a freebie, that would be a good acquisition. ...Formation 3-5-2. |

So, you're voting to get rid of the negative influencers in the dressing room (which I would agree with) and bring in Carlton Cole and Jay Bothroyd Bothroyd is one of the most disruptive footballers around, always in trouble and with a big problem with authority Carlton Cole played for a season with our neighbours and couldn't be bothered, a real "big city" Londoner who ponces around in a £120,000 Bentley paid for by sitting in the reserves Neither would be bothered with Birmingham, both lack the bottle to peform week in week out, both are disruptive influences and affected ego's, and I wouldn't touch either of them with a bargepole |

What about George Burley? He did really well with Derby before leaving, managed to get them into the playoffs with no money at all. Could be a good shout. Don't think he is in management at the moment. |

If Watford dont get promoted then this would be an excellent option. He might bring Marlon King with him ;) I know its a long shot but Chris Coleman is a good manager. Ok he might not have set the world alight at Foolham and may be on his way out but he plays good football, doesnt stand for any nonsense, can spot a good player and is very intelligent. |

Carlton had a good season at Charlton, and as for Bothroyd, the guy is very talented, and know for a fact that the main reasons behind his odd flash in the pan tantrums has been and always will be his desire to play football. ...At Arsenal he was booted out for throwing his shirt after being substituted in game where he was by far the man of the match; for England Under-21s, or 19's he was reprimanded for moaning about his substitution in a game in which he was one of the nations better players. Since then however, he has matured, at Charlton he was a peripehral figure, and had no quarms with waiting for his turn. ...Look, all players in their youth make mistakes, over step the line, and moan about things when they should keep stum. Rooney applauded an official, Joe Cole bemoaned Mourinho's decision to sub him, Van Perise stuck 2 fingers up at the City crowd, and Mido had a barny at the African Nations cup. What would you rather have, someone whose desperate to play, or those who are begging you to take their names off the team sheet? ...Bothroyd is exactly what we need, big, strong, pacey and has a point to prove. He's young and has alot of untapped potential, and whats more, wouldn't cost us 3 million. ...As was mentioned above, im in agreement that Carlton Cole's wages would be a stumbling block, but one cannot discard his achievements whilst on loan at Charlton, and as young man in the game, if he was interested in the move, would represent a good signing. |
