whether bruce is your man or not i think many on here feel that things need freshening up at the club.

like trevor before, and the majority of other clubs, sometimes things go stale and a change is needed.

Its not just freshening up. Your right, but we need to rebuild too. Not just paper over the cracks with fresh faces. Everything needs to be looked at IMO. The youth setup. The reserves. Training, fitness, tactics, the whole structure of the club.

I think a variation of the 3-5-2 would offer best accomodation for the players we have. Our frailty in defence warrants another centrehalf being dropped in, we havent got much in terms of wingers, especially if Pennant goes, but have a fair few centre-mids, and given that goals dont exactly come by the truck load, we need to insist upon a 2 man strikeforce.

.................Taylor.....................

Oji.............Tebily.............Upson

????...........Medhi.............Sadler

........Damien.........Dunn............

...?????.........................?????.....

...Ideally, alot of changes need to be made, especially to that starting line-up, a new right wingback, a couple strikers, and perhaps a few bodies in the centre of the park; for starters, Medhi's not done much since his arrival. But you can see what im aiming at. Defensive solidarity through a back 3, with an anchorman in the midfield, a creative element in the centre of the park, having an anchorman behind the likes of Dunn and Damien will free the 2 of them, and allow them to get forward.

...As you'll have noticed, the 2 strikers are widely spaced. This was a ploy used by Redknapp vs. Arsenal a couple seasons back, with Yak and Lua Lua offering coverage down the flanks, which in effect, apprehended the opposing fullbacks, and forced the ball to be played through the centre of the pitch, where Arsenal's 4-4-2 conceded numerical advantage. You'll remember this was the game in which Arsenal scrapped a point through a contentious penalty after Pires hurled himself to the ground Klinsmann style. The tactic completely stiffled the Gunners, and earned Harry praise from his opposite number.
