Zigic is a leech, what a weird remark!! how the hell can the guy be a leech, he has a contract from his employer.

Does that make you a leech as well because you have a contract with your employer?

Bore off
I think he meant Legend dele ;)

Zigs been worth every penny and more imo.

How much was Zigic's awful penalty miss in Braga worth that cost us missing out on the next stage of Europa League??

He never missed the penalty, the Braga Keeper saved it. And I was there folks :drink:

The only reason we went out of Europa was because of some outrageous match fixing in the Maribor v Bruges game

As a fan of more than 40 years, I can say that some of my best memories involve matches in which Zigic has played a huge part. I wish him well
Most of my best memories involve Barry Bridges, Fred Pickering, Jimmy Grrenhoff, Trevor Francis, Bob Latchford, Bob Hatton, Kenny Burns, Frank Worthington, Christophe Dugarry and Mikael Forsell.

Then there are about 500 more players before I even start to think about the leech.

I said "some" Lowdham < <

Some of your names are before even my time ;)

I think you'll find it was because the leech missed a penalty...and an absolute pathetic miss at that.

Now then Lowds, talking about star players, what about:
Walter Wigmore - we paid £180 to reunite him with his striking partner Bob McRoberts. He was probably the forerunner of such Blues stalwarts as Trevor Smith and Kenny Burns when he was transformed into a centre half. For nine years he remained first choice in that position, making the last of his 355 appearances for Birmingham only a few days before his 39th birthday. He was often penalised for dangerous play due to his unusual reluctance to head the ball, preferring to use his feet however high the ball came to him. Nice.

Farewell to Ziggy and Burkey and a big 'Thank You' from me anyway :applause: :applause:

They were both excellent players for us, both were also arguably below par on a few occasions this past season as well but I think it is totally fair to say that this past season was one in which most of us Blue Noses wish to forget .....wish them both Good Luck in their futures **thumbup

I was just wondering but weren't Burke and The Zig the last links to the previous McLeish/ Huhgton eras ?

Is the current side (Academy and our own youngsters aside) completely a side built by Lee Clark now ?

Burke and Ziggy were the last links to McLeish, all his players have now left.
But Spector is still at Blues and he was signed by Chris Hughton.

We also still have 1 player who was given his debut at Blues by Steve Bruce, though he doesn't start very often - Colin Doyle.

Thanks , baloos

What a great team Big Eck had built .......best top flight season for 50 odd years and a magical Cup triumph at Wembley watched by tens of millions around the world

Ah , well , onwards and upwards .....hopefully..... we can't fall much further than we already have although League One was too close a call for comfort

Spector might stick around, don't rate him that much to be perfectly honest but he is versatile and I reckon Doyle may move on soon to try and secure more regular action ....No knocking his loyalty though, I wish there were more players like Doyle around in the game today

Only just over a month now until the season starts once again .......promotion would be nice

Any criticism of his contract should be directed towards Yeung/Pannu. I'd have taken that contract offer but only if they'd included luncheon vouchers :)

Can anyone tell me if they have continuosly under-performed and at the same time sucked the cash out of a financially chronic company? ...a resounding no.

That useless toerag just continued to suck the blood out of our dying football club. That's a leech in my book. He had offers to apply his trade at higher levels but the lazy toerag just wanted to sit back, do little and try to financially kill off the football club I have supported for near on 50 years.

Leech.

Its all very well to accept a contract that is offered to you, especially when you are tied in come what may...but one would be expected to work for that amount of money and the bigger the contract the harder one should work.

Lowds that's a rant not a rational counter argument, while steve mag although he may not have been your cup of tea nevertheless he is a Blues Legend, played in our league cip winning team beat the villa changed the game V west ham, scored first goal V Arsenal, frour goals at Leeds changed and scored V Blackpool home leg of play offs and great comeback header at Bolton....Legend!
Forget his wages lay that at the feet of PP & CY, facts are Alex Chris & Lee realised he was too good not top play, and finally I 100% believe if he could have started six games after Wembley we wouldn't have finished in bottom six!

My son and I were talking about Ziggy and we agree that his agent has not done him any favours not accepting a lower wage, he's now gone form earning 60 grand a week to zero, I doubt he'll get anything like the wages we were paying and will have to move his family. I would have liked to see him stay, he had his moments, ie 4 goals aginst Leeds, scoring in the cup final, my only gripe with him was the wages he was on, but that was hardly his fault. As for Burke, great first season, rubbish last year. On the plus side, our club is now 1/4 of a million a month better off ;)

As you, for some reason have brought my name up, to put you right, I said that people are entitled to their opinions and just because they differ from yours does not make them any less of a Blues supporter.

There are many people on this site whose views PI disagree with, and I will continue to argue my position, but I would not stoop so low as to say they are not Blues supporters as you seem to suggest so often.

I must admit, I get a bit tired of this 'I'm a better supporter than you, so anybody who disagrees with me can't be a Blues supporter.

If it wasn't for Zigic how do you think things would look no carling cup still would of got relegated as we couldn't score, still have the same owners and maybe playing league 1 football . Thanks for the memories and wish you well still think he wasn't used correctly during his time and we didn't get the best out of him on a regular basis. Thanks Burke for your time here aswell think a change was needed good luck for the future.

...but only after he had leeched £10.14million over the last three years. To think how much quality Championship players we could have attracted with that pot for salary.

Just a reminder for those with short memories.

Zigic's winner against the Vile in the Carling Cup Quater final was priceless, not only did it put us in the semi final it was a massive win against our local rivals - How much would you say that was worth ?

The Carling Cup win was our most successful day in our modern day history. Zigic's goal was priceless - How Much would you say it was worth ?

Bruges away was one of our most memorable away wins ever with some 7000+ Bluenoses in Belgium, it wouldnt have happened without Zigic, the two cup goals from Zigic were priceless, the home games in Europe were cracking atmospheres - How much would you say the Europa experience was worth because without Zigic it wouldnt have happened ?

And last but not least we would be starting League 1 football next month if it werent for Zigics goal up at Bolton - How much would you say that was worth ?

Yea some have very short memories indeed ;)

kro
Some have very short and highly selective memories!
I remember travelling to the Euros and seeing zig grab the ball, demand to take the penalty, and muff it up.....

Agreed, Francis was a legend as was Dugarry. Zig is certainly not.
There are of course several others who were legends but to say zig was demeans them. Thanks for the three or four !!!! Great big game goals Zigic. Now let's move on. Faster the better.
