Thanks again everyone.

For me, tonight is going to be a night to get sloshed. I'm absolutely exhausted after not having slept properly for weeks - but there again, none of us is sleeping much at the moment with this heat anyway.

Yesterday was the most fantastic day - if you can say a funeral is fantastic.

Obviously I would far rather have my hubby back alongside me, fit and healthy and moaning at me for being on the net so much. But for a fitting send off - it was very fitting.

The 14 bikes following behind the hearse and limosine was a sight to behold. Phil would have loved it. And typical of Phil, he was late for his own funeral. There had been an accident on the highway which resulted in us, sitting in a traffic jam, and having to be diverted. Many of the following cars got separated - and lost - but thankfully everyone turned up eventually. The service was very moving with lots of lovely tributes to Phil, and music which Phil had chosen himself. The setting for the burial is absolutely wonderful - in a woodland, overlooking the Malverns and Brecon Beacons, right beside a lovely tree. Everyone was amazed at the setting. My plot is reserved next to him. Turning into the woodland, one of my sisters counted the cars - she lost count at 60.

At the reception, we had photo displays around the room of Phil with various members of the family, from years back up to recent - including the one with him and me stood behind the blues flag taken in Coruna last year (below). Many of his aunts and uncles have asked for copies of that one (they're all bluenoses). We also played some of Phil's favourite music tracks during the evening.

A special day for a special man.

RIP Phil

Mo, that is so moving. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I'm glad the day went well. You're right about it seeming strange to say that, but I know exactly what you mean. One thing that can never be taken from you is memories and I know that you have many and that they are all special.

It sounds as if the whole day was a celebration of his life, and that is exactly how it should have been.

God bless and keep right on

Mo, Thanks for posting that - it sounds like it was a great send off for Phil, and no more than he deserved. I'm sure he was looking down and enjoying the day with you all. I'm only sorry I couldn't be there myself, though. :( - although my thoughts were with you yesterday.

Keep Strong, and All the Best,

Love,

C.

Mo,

I was too late to get a message posted in advance of the funeral and cannot say anything that has not already been said. It must be some solace to have the memory of the funeral as special as it obviously was. Hope you manage to sleep well again soon.
