Is it just me or is real ale only drunk by patronising bearded gits who like drinking vinegar tasting luke warm and flat catpee lecturing all all about beer that,s brewed for the masses being full of chemicals.... And how come most of it,s from Dudlley... |

so is that the ale your talking about or the people that drink it. You said that real ale was over rated but didn't say what was over rated about it. Instead you just made a genralisation on the people that drink it. confused. |

yep thats me :D I say drink what you like, its all about personal taste, I'm not a big fan of real ale as I don't like bitter etc... I like to dabble in the different ciders (scrumpy) and like cider houses ;) |

I drink real ale, cus me dad gets it in and its nicer and less fizzy than lager, but if i'm down the pub i'll still drink lager because there's rarely anything else. |

Well I have to say I love both for different reasons. Lager for its refreshing properties especially in hot weather, and Ale for its variety and complexity of flavour. Hot day + Beer Garden + cool crisp lager = Heaven Cold winters day + pub with log fire + real ale = Heaven Ale drinkers need to open their minds that not all lager is bad and Lager drinkers need to broaden their palettes. |

Seconded! Even as a real ale enthusiast, I would still drink lager on holiday or in a beer garden when it's like this. Too those who dismiss ales on the basis that it's drunk by bearded, jumper wearing social inadequates, try some out. Remember to avoid nitro-keg bitters though (John Smiths, Boddingtons, Brew XI etc) and give the hand pulled cask stuff a go, there's such a massive variety of taste that not all of it will appeal but you may find a few that will convert you from lager! |

Erdinger - nice stuff. Not easy to get in pubs around town. The Anchor in Digbeth has it and so does All Bar One. Where did you get yours? |

Yeah it's lovely stuff. I find a lot of Weiss beers a bit rich but this one is very quoffable. Ironically I am off beer at the mo since a mad drinking session in London on Wednesday that didn't actually end till Thursday morning. |
