The Best of SUPASTITION Posted Image No stranger to bad luck and hardships, North Carolina native Supastition has managed to use those setbacks as inspiration to create his own vibe of emotionally-driven hip hop. After brief yet unsuccessful stints in 2002 with indie label Freshchest Records as well as Rasco’s Pockets Linted Entertainment, Supastition’s turning point came when his collaboration with producer Nicolay was hand-selected by ?uestlove & Okayplayer Records out of over 5,000 contestants to appear on the Okayplayer Records compilation. His song entitled “The Williams” received critical praise as one of the standout tracks on the True Notes Vol. 1 album and hip hop heads worldwide began noticing Supa and his knack for making honest music that the average person could relate to. Posted Image After interest from several labels, Supastition signed with indie label Soulspazm Records and released his follow-up “The Deadline” EP which served as a predecessor to his sophomore album “Chain Letters”. The lead 12’ single from the EP, “Boombox” (produced by Illmind), reached ..2 on national college radio charts and received acclaim from veteran DJs such as Revolution, Faust & Shortee, and Rhettmatic. “Boombox” was also featured on MTV2 as part of the “One Life: The Love, The Game” special along with the DVD and also chosen to appear on France native DJ Cam’s “My Playlist” CD on Wagram Music. DJ Cam was quoted as saying “It reminds me (of) the pure golden age of hip hop… love it”. The Deadline served as the perfect appetizer for Supastition’s upcoming album “Chain Letters”. The future looks promising for the Greenville, NC emcee whose sophomore LP “Chain Letters" was released on October 25, 2005 on Soulspazm Records. “Chain Letters” has been proclaimed by Supastition and others as his best work to date and will include production from his main producer Illmind in addition to some of hip hop’s dopest beat makers including Nicolay, M-phazes, Jake One, and more. Little Brother and Lost Colony alumni Seven appear on the release as well as vocalists such as Nonameko, Dminor, and Can’Tell. --------------------------------------------------- my favourite artist of ALL time, and i bet none of you have even heard of him lol. i guarentee your perception of hip hop music will change after hearing a collection i assembled from his albums 7 Years of Bad Luck, Chain Letters and The Deadline (plus a few tracks from other people's albums) if you love music, you SHOULD check out this artist plain and simply, Supastition is everything hip hop SHOULD be, plus i've spoken to him many times, he's a very funny dude lol. also.... The Roots's new album Game Theory Posted Image you should also check out their other albums, Illadelph Halflife, Things Fall Apart, The Turning Point, Phrenology and Organix. The Roots are commonly percieved as the best hip hop band around
^^ i mean that, musically it's a very special album :ph43r: @ this whole post |

If you want to listen to some Supastition, if you got to http://www.supastition.com/ there is a media player that will play some tracks. There is also some audio of The Roots and other Def Jam artists on Def Jam just have a look around on there, you should find the audio quite easily **thumbup |

Well at least you didn't bite CPH. Dance, hip-hop & rap (not including some of the early stuff) mixing, sampling, remixing it all just bores me. I don't think I've bought anything of this genre since Crystal Waters' 100% Pure Love in 199....er summat. Sampling I find particularly annoying, it's just cheating as far as I'm concerned. I like to hear good strong lyrics and I like a song to say something. To quote the Black Eyed Peas song you mentioned: ''Hey y'all, John Coltraine yeah he plays the sax Me, myself I love to max Up in the studio laying tracks Burn it on the CD, melt the wax And now I'm feeling fine Coz daily music's on my mind And I feel mellow When I watch the girl play the cello Hello to all my fellow peers in here for the quality Music quality, yeah That'll be the focus in the top pick of the day So pass the peas like we used to say Pass the beats like they used to say Pass the phunk like they used to say That's my joint like we used to say Syncopation the true school way '' Now that's just crap, that's not an opinion that's a fact. Anybody with a modicum of intelligence woud look at that and know that the person who wrote it hasn't really got very much talent at all. I have listened to the Black Eyed Peas, a couple of their tracks caught my ear so I dl one of the albums. I have to say, that whatever that one blank disc cost me, I felt ripped off. I have also see them play live on the tv, they're a joke mate, absolute garbage. They have nothing, nothing whatsoever. They're just another dreadful manufactured band who can only sound anything like decent when all the wonderful marvels of the modern recording studio have unleashed their full powers on them. I suggest a music forum would be of more use than a music thread. Maybe you should have titled the thread as a BEP's thread and then you may have drawn attention from those with an interest. You should be had up on the trades description act for claiming that this thread was about music. I'd rather listen to Wham. |

Watch out Blues...... I totally agree with you!! BEP are just a similar version to the Pussycat Dolls. What are they all about??? One person who can sing in a manufactured girl band. Their 'my beeps' song (or whatever it was ) was almost as bad as possibly the worst track this year about 'my lady lumps' by the BEP. Simply awful. And yes, you are bang on about Wham. Like them or not, they were (mostly) lyrically sound .... - for 18-20 year olds :ph43r: |

What have you got against Wham blues? I thought the first track by the BEP was excellent...'where is the love?' now that did have something to say! but everything else of theirs has been diabolical, i know because my 10 year old daughter loves them and i have probably been forced to listen to their entire back-catalogue over the last few months!!! <---this little fella had to sit through it all too and as you can quite clearly see he is not impressed, he would rather listen to francis dunnery. |

Robert Plant always turns up to watch Dunnery when he's in town...and he pays in. For the less informed, that's on a par with standing in the queue at one of the Tilton turnstiles and seeing Pele standing behind you with a paid for match ticket in his hand. |

lmao! i thought it was odd when you pointed out the lyrics to a 'club' track. lyrics are almost irrelevant  i'm not a BEP fan btw (can't stand em), i just like that one Pete Rock (hip hop super-producer) remix :D you know what i miss, i miss those those French funky house beats, they need to make a comeback already continue.... :) |

OK, one for you TCPH, I'll tell you a great CD. But for whatever reason I bet you won't listen to it...... Will Smith - Lost & Found A great CD and totally different to much of his earlier stuff having a pop at loads of people he has just let pass him by in the past. At rap in general: Why should I try to sound like ya'll sound That's what's wrong with the rap game right now Man, it's like a circus wit a bunch of clowns Wit a bunch of clicks I'll probably rap circles around At Eminem: Look at the eyes got the look of a survivor Husband, father Dissed by Eminem but did it bother him (yup) But he classy Big Will just get another 20 mil And walk right pass E. Wendy Williams: Wendy Williams, you don’t know me I’m not your punching bag You gon blow me up girl you better leave me alone Before I buy your radio station and send you home Yo this is a warning shot over the bawl Truth be told this ain’t my style You gotta understand some stuff a man can’t allow You better chill before you climb a tree you can’t get down Any comments....?! |
